while I cannot help your dog you should know that except for accidents cancer is the number one killer of pets....

most pet cancer is food related - avoid ingredients such as BHT, BHA and by-products (they are preserved with a chemical pesticide known as ethoxyquin which isnt listed on the ingredient lable because it is considered part of the by-product)

I feel so sorry for you and your dog. My border collie fought cancer of the lymph nodes for two years with chimo treatments. From what I have learned, if you can't remove the problem, you can slow the cancer somewhat with a high fat, low carb diet. The cancer cannot use fat until the last stages of life. It may or may not help. Trust me if there was a miracle herb, I would have tried it. My dog was my best friend and I couldn't bare to lose her, but in the end it came down to, was I keeping her alive for me or was I doing what was best for her. Please if she is suffering or going to be suffering, wouldn't it be better to remember her as healthy and happy, instead of sick and dying. I'm sure you will do the right thing. Good Luck!

well it all depends on how old your dog is and if you are willing to pay the costly fees of surgery if she is old and has lived her life its best to have her put to sleep if not and she still has some life in her to enjoy than go along with the surgery but first see what the odds are of her making it through it. I know what your going through in some extent. My dog was 1 1/2 years old when she got hit by a car i found her a few hours later in the cold shivering full of blood bleeding from the mouth it was a bad site I took her to the vet since no one would come out and they told me different prices at different places I found one place resonable and they fixed her up good she was back to normal in 1 week with a fractured pelvic bone, fractured upper jaw missing canines but she acted like nothing happend they charged me $150 for her medications, overnight stay, and x-rays.

I'm so very sorry. Personally, I'd go with the surgery. I know its a risk, but its also a chance. The longer you wait, the longer the cancer has to spread. Talk to your vet.

I know you want to prolong her life, I don't blame you, but make sure she's not suffering. Its not fair to her to make her suffer because you can't bear to lose her. I can't even imagine the pain of internal bleeding. Like I said, talk to your vet.

Very sorry to hear that - I don't know how old your dog is. Ours was put down last September - She had cancer in her bones and tumors in her lungs. We decided we did not want to keep her alive for our sakes - she had been a fantastic companion to us through a lot of different life stages - the best way we could respect that was to not make her suffer for us - the vet said it was time, we put her to sleep. The vet had a consultation with us because I wanted to make sure that it was time so we went a second time to speak with her. We were offered chemo and other things but also the option of having her put down.

To spend those last few moments with her were an honour.

I am so sorry to hear about your dog, Dusty. I don't know any miracle herbs either. But antioxidants in humans are supposed to help lower the risk of cancer.

I hesitate to prescribe 'human' stuff for critters, but in this case I don't think it will hurt. Ask your vet, and see if there is a skilled herbalist in your area who can help more.

And if you find you can't help your dog, make sure she knows you love her. You'll do what is right for her.

Good luck.

People and animals are alike when it comes to illnesses, that is why the test so much on animals. Unfortunately you need to put the dog down. This dog I assume has been good to you, so return the favour and do not let it suffer. My mother just died of cancer and she fought it every step of the way. My mother suffered till the day that she died. My boyfriend has to put his cat down as well. He does not want to see him suffer. So do yourself and the dog a favour and send it to dogie heaven.

Read "Sophie's Story" on the Dhaxem website by first clicking on "Examples of Results".

It could be a measure of how much you love your dog. If as much as I do Sophie, your dog may also make it.

Let me just say my thoughts and prayers are with you. We will find out biopsy results tomorrow on our six year old, neutered German shepherd who they suspect has prostate cancer. We are still in a state of shock and disbelief. If he does, we are going to attack this disease with everything we can, as long as his quality of life is good.
