It seems a very pointless thing to say because all these ancient so-called prophets are dead and therefore no longer have a conciousness to feel peace or otherwise.
As for criticism, the mohommedans can't possibly allow ANY criticism because it's just possible that they might realise that they were wrong about something all along. If that turned out to be the case, people would abandon mohmmedanism almost immediately and the religion would quickly die out. After all, the great enemy of religion is EDUCATION.

PBUH = peace be upon him
In the Middle East it seems customary to wish peace upon another. Salam aleikum in Arabic and Shalom aleikum in Hebrew. It is also customary to say the same for the honored dead. But then the hatred that fills their hearts leeches out and they kill each other.
Only Jesus taught peace, love and forgiveness in a way that changes the hearts of men. Some Christians (not all) know the love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, meekness, temperance and faith of the spirit. Those that have that fruit are true Christians.

Peace is a stage that one has to reach within him through life. And for this purpose the first thing an individual should have is "purity of heart".
When the Muslims say "Peace Be Upon Him" each time they write or utter the name of a prophet life Mohamed - they admit it very clearly that they are not having peace within. No one has to wish peace for the one who lives in peace.
When I hear this repeated "PBUH", I feel that in the opinion of Muslims these prophets have no peace within.

bc the prophet, like jesus and abraham, brought the word of god and was a very humble and peaceful person. when there is a situation such as what the pope said arise, especially comming from someone in his power, it is very difficult for the muslim community to just sit there and have what they consider the most purest of people be degraded and unsulted.
consider how you would feel if a man of great power such as the pope called jesus christ a jew killing barbarian or something terrible of that nature. bc of the popes position, his words are very dangerous and when he says that the prophet spread islam by the sword, that is the true hypocracy since christianinty was spread so heavily by the sword so many times in history.
the prophet mohammed only fought when attacked. also, none of his teachings were evil or inhumane by any means. instead quite the opposite. this is why it is so difficult when a situation like this comes up.

Just read about the life of Muhammad. Read about his activities and those of his disciples (even from biased, Islamic sources, if you wish) .
Then you will know why Muslims are so sensitive about criticism of Muhammad.
The truth hurts.

its PBUH (Peace Be Upon Him), and we use it for every Prophet of GOD. and we can take honest criticism abt our Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him), as we can give a positive reply for that (in defence), but we can't take insults on Him. its like hitting below the belt. Peace to All.

The only explanation that I can find is that they are full of hatred and intolerance. They still live in the VII century, and behave that way
