I would say as soon as the human brain has developed sufficiently enough to process such things as pain and non instinctual response. I can't tell you at what stage of development this happens, but what I DO know, is that my Son was born within the legal time where he could have been aborted and is now a healthy, happy boy.
I STILL agree with abortion, although not for the purposes of birth control or because of inconvenience and I personally consider the latest stage that one can abort to be far too late. Having said that though, physical existence is by far NOT the most important aspect of life. It's laughable that so many self-confessed "spiritual" people fail to see that there is more to existence than the material world. Ironic too, that some will even kill for the right to preserve a physical life...

The first, at conception. The heart starts beating at 5 weeks. By the end of the first trimester the baby can suck his thumb. This is definitley a baby, not just a clump of cells.

When the fetus can survive outside of the womb, it is a child.Even if it means that child has to spend weeks in the NICU(Neonatal Intensive Care Unit).People keep forgetting that even though organs and the brain are formed by 4 months, the organs themselves aren't able to support the body that they are in.And even though miscarriage is most common in the first trimester, it is far from unheard of for a mother to have a stillborn in the second trimester.

It is not so simple to measure as a trimester. It has more to do with at what point the embryo develops heart, brain activity, lungs, hearing, etc. These things take place fairly early on and usually within the 1st trimester.

When the spirit enters and object and it becomes animated it is a living soul. When that same spirit leaves the flesh then it is dead. Now exactly when this happens no one knows but it is very soon after conception. Actually conception would be the safest guess.

GOD bless ya.

Fetus becomes a child at the time it could possibly live on its own -- 5 months gestation.

It doesnt matter what we THINK!! I have lost four children to miscarriage from the 3rd month to the 6 month...The were ALL HUMANS..They were not blobs of flesh!! I saw them, held them. 3 were male..one was female...
And fetus describes animals...Humans are embryos!!

From the moment the sperm fertilizes the egg. At two weeks old the baby already has many body parts fully formed.
