It is wheat product = carbohydrate.

100g boiled udon - 101 kcal
100g boiled soba - 132 kcal
100g white rice (cooked) - 145 kcal
100g brown rice (cooked) - 153 kcal
100g spaghetti or macaroni (cooked) - 149 kcal
100g white bread - 260 kcal

It seems to contain lesser kcalories then other items listed above but it also depends how much you eat in one meal + what your toppings are and how youprepare it, i.e. if you fried udon with oil and lot of meat, or you top your udon with deep-fried pork cutlet (total = 970 kcal) or tempura (total = 915 kcal), you would not loose but gain weight!

Boiled udon with vegetables + fish or shrimps is a good choice for weight watchers.

In the event that it's a fruit they have seeds, otherwise it's a vegetable. And vegetables are usually grown in the ground while fruits are grown in trees.
