get the type of puppy food thats right for its weight and size and also check becuase they have puppy food for the ones that will be bigger....if its really young like under 2months dont take it out for long walk yet. just let it play in the backyard. its muscles are still delicate so be careful...but some entertaining toys that will keep him busy and maybe chew toys...the first night its at your house it will cry a lot...take him outside every hour to pee...then it will eventually get used to peeing outside...i suggest you google care info for your specific breed...

You should have given the type of pup in ur question..anyways...looking after a pup is just like taking care of a baby...they should be pampered though not over fed...if its a one or two month old pup you can feed him a glass of milk with Cerelac five times a day..after 6 months you can make it thrice a day...and the most important thing is toilet practice..right from day one take him for a walk as soon as you feed him...if you are staying at home you have to take him once a couple of hours so that he can piss...if you let him poop him inside the house he will never go out and do it...if you want to punish him use only a news paper to beat him...paper wont hurt him...take care..good luck...

Right from the birth of puppies the litter must be monitored carefully about their health and mother may be examined by the vet to ensure that she is well and there in no pup or placenta retained. If any puppy or mother is not well a medical advice must be taken immediately.
In the winter season pups should be kept in warm conditions. Every pup should be marked so that individual identity can be maintained. In case of large litter where mother is not in a position to fulfill the requirement of pups an additional feeding is required. Use Ksheer a balanced milk formulation for additional feeding. If puppy is uneasy, crying or not taking feed a pinch of Tankan (digestive powder) may be rubbed on the tongue 4 to 5 times a day. In case of loose motion give them 2 to 5 drops of Alton two or three times in a day and pup should be taken to vet for examination and treatment.
If the tail docking is required it must be done within a week of the birth of puppies.
Weaning should start at about four weeks, which will reduce burden of mother as the puppies require more food day by day. Nutrix is complete and balanced weaning food.

Depending on how old your pup is, and assuming its at least 8 weeks old, puppy chow with small bits are a good way to go here, as well as some caned food to start.
After about two weeks, or when your canned food starts running low, faze it out by adding more and more dry than canned until there is no more canned. Hard food is best for healthy gums and teeth.
Depending on how you want him raised, don't give him table scraps unless you plan to keep it up and don't mind the "Where is my plate?" stares while you are eating. Personally, we feed ours scraps, but also teach them "Quit Begging" to avoid the staring sessions. With "Qut Begging" the dog is required to lie down with its head on the floor, or leave the room. Even with the dog's head on the floor, it may still stare at you, but they can't go any lower so if even that bothers you, just teach them that the command means to leave the room.
Potty training - if you plan to have the dog in the house most often, a good way to potty train is to watch the pup after it eats, plays, or wakes up. When you see it scouting - nosing around - take it outside and repeat "go potty" untill it does its business. Then praise it like it just saved your life. If your pup seems to get distracted too much, tug the leash when its sniffing too long in one spot and repeat the command.

What breed of puppy did you get? I have put a lot of time and research into dog foods and both my dogs and I like Royal Canin. They like taste wise and I like it because their coats are great and their energy is up. So it means the food is doing its job. Check out their website, www.royalcanin.us, its very informational and useful as far as feeding and dogs in general.
Also the more time and training you put into your puppy the better dog you will have. A lot depends on the breed your puppy is but either way make sure you socialize it and introduce it to whatever you want him accustom to. Like kids, car rides, different people and different animals. Also make sure before you take your puppy any where it has all its shots and has been checked by the vet. You may want to consider obedience classes as a good foundation.

well I got a puppy it was a american rednose pitbull at its first month or two you should feel it kibble or puppy food along with esiblac or puppy formula it will make them grow faster as if they were with their mother and its a replacement formula instead of its mothers milk. Also chew toys are crucial becauase when they start to teeth they chew on everything.

What type of dog is it?
Take your puppy out frequently to relieve her/himself. They tend to "go" more then older puppies, but that depends on their weight.
