I went onto one of those online translatorss and asked a question on the Mexican Answers forum and all the answers came back "we do not understand what you are saying" so obviously the translators are rubbish. Are there any Spanish speakers out there who can tell me how to say the following:

"Why is there so much racism towards Black people in Mexico"?
"I travelled to Mexico 2 years ago. I am a black woman from England and I absolutely hated the experience as people were either always staring at me or pointing at me or saying that their hotel rooms were full when they were empty. Policemen kept asking to check my passport but not my white friends passports. I was even told at one stage by this Mexican guy that Mexicans would prefer a white rapist to a Black lawyer. but, when I went over the border to Guatemela I was treated very well.Even my white travel companions noticed how badly I was treated in Mexico"

How woud I say the above quoted paragraph in Spanish please?

thanks.. I'm not going to use a translation which is from online site as they are incorrect. I would prefer to use a translation from either a spanish speaker or a spanish native. thanks.
Yes the expereince was quite bad and I spent a considerable amount of time in tears and this is from someone whi really has travelled the world without incident. I did not expect this type of reception as people in Mexico are not white themselves. Someone even ran into a shop to get their friends to stare at me!

MARMOT... I have travelled the world and NEVER EVER been treated as badly as I was in Mexico not evenin the USA of the UK my country of birth. There is racism everywhere but it was widespread in Mexico. i also did not stay in a resort. I backpacked from Mexico City right down to the Chiapas region where I crossed the border overinto Guatemela. I did not go to Cancun or Acapulco or other tourist resorts.

thanks... I spent a lot of time in tears in Mexico and the people made me feel ashamed to be Black. It hurt a lot to be disliked so much for no other reason than being Black. When I tried to be nice to people they just did not want to know. Now I cannot bear to ever contemplate returning there. look in. I know that there is racism in the UK, but I have never been pointed at or refused entry to hotels whilst my white friends have been accepted. I have never been asked to get off of buses to get my passport checked whilst my white travel companions could remain where they were on the bus.Unfortunately it left me hating the country and feeling that it was backward.. sorry... I have travelled extensively around the world to white countries and never had this problem at all. I could never go back to Mexico and am actually amidst writing a travel book called Travelling whilst Black with a specific chapter on Mexico which is unfortunately a necessity...

Hi,

You can ask: Porque hay tanto racismo encontra de gente negra en Mexico?

I am Mexican... Answering your question I can tell you that there is a lot of discrimination towards everybody not just black people... I personally love the diversity! I like black people and I don't have problems with anyone! I just hate people that misbehave that's all... I guess anyone can misbehave, specially in the resort areas!

The cultivated people are respectful... I have many friends that are black and I love them! I think they are funny and lovely!

I can just tell you that is not just Mexicans who are racist!! If I go somewhere in the UK I get discriminated too.... The Americans are the same so......

I have been treated so bad... I believed that the people from the UK where better than others.... I guess my personal experience tells me all!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry to hear that... I don't want to offend you at all! Is a really bad thing to hear specially from my own country!! I know quite a lot of people are racist and I feel bad about it!! You can say that many are uncultivated!! I told you.. I don't have a problem but obviously you were in areas where people can't even read.. I'm sorry to hear that!! If you go to central parts of Mexico you will probably find more tolerant people and less racism!

Mexico City is a fascinating capital that beguiles its readers with endless possibilities therefore pick the most effective solution with hotelbye . Mexico City is one of the biggest downtown places on the planet, with 16 boroughs and significantly more than 300 neighbourhoods. Several of the very visited tourist attractions in Mexico City are concentrated in the Historic Centre, including the Plaza de la Constitucion or Zocalo, the National Palace, Metropolitan Cathedral, Templo Mayor, Palace of Fine Arts and Alameda Park. A couple of prevents north of the Palace of Fine Arts, Plaza Garibaldi is one of the best areas in Mexico City to listen to live mariachi music.

These people here are not helping you. Their Spanish is worse than you get from an online translator.
My suggestion is as follows:

Here you are... This is your paragraph translated into Mexican Spanish

There you are... even though I'm very, very sorry to hear about that happening to you, since I'm from the Mexican city Guadalajara, and proud to belong to a culture that I had always considered to be colorblind. Which part of Mexico did you visit? Hope it was not Guadalajara...

But don't worry. Most Mexicans are not racist towards black people... the reason that some of us might stare at Black, Asian or White people is that we find them very exotic... and truly beautiful. The words we use to refer to them ("negrito/a", litterally "little black one"; "chinito/a", "little one from China"... even Japanese or Korean get called that; and "güerito/a", "little blond one") are all affectionate, and in no way offensive.

As for that stupid guy who told you about Mexicans prefering white rapists to black lawyers... believe me, he was blatantly lying and he is in no way a good sample of a Mexican (or he was making a stupid joke out of it from the popular idea that lawyers, no matter their race, are not liked in Mexico. Still, what he said was not sensitive nor sensible).

Again, I´m sorry about what happened to you, and hope people in the Mexican forum will help you to change your mind. I´d also like to apologize in behalf of my country.

Uh... and please excuse any English mistakes

Hi! I was just translatings your sentence when "millonario" and "micheliu" gave you the correct answer.

I can try to help with this:

I cannot think of the exact Spanish definition of the word "racism" but I can get the point across.

Kindergarten Translation:

Por que es alli mas racism con la gente de negro en Mexico?

I can not translate your question but I can ask my husband for an answer to it when he gets home from work. I've asked him this but he has never answered. He has a way of avoiding the question. So when he returns I will ask again and tell him I need the answer and post the answer at that time.
