Jesus meant that by accepting Him as the Lord of your life and following the way He taught us to live as written in the New Testament we could have eternal life with Him. He also meant there was no other way to enter the kingdom of heaven except by confessing our sins and believing He was the son of God.

He meant Follow my example.

This has been misinterpreted to mean that all one needs to do is say they believe that Jesus is God.
This is about as far from the original intent as one could possibly get.

It started out as a simple translational anomaly.

There is no perfect way to say follow my example, or do it like I do it in Aramaic the language that Jesus spoke.

In Aramaic If you were trying to get someone to follow you example you would say "I am the way".

Sad that this has been changed to mean something so silly.

Jesus could care less who we think that he is.

His only concern is that we follow what he taught and the example he left for us.

He meant just what He said. The way to God and salvation is through belief in Jesus as your savior. He is the only intermediary between us and God.I belief when He spoke, He generally spoke pretty clearly and did not leave whole lots left to speculation.

he said "iam the way the truth and the life no one goes to the father but by me" he was refuring to the three doors that led to the holy of holies in the temple the 1st was called the way the 2nd the truth and the 3rd the life they were the only way into the holy of holies. jesus was saying that no one could get to God except through jesus (that is believing in what he did on the cross died for our sins and rose again on the third day and letting him into our lives) only then can we meet God and be with him forever.

He meant it. He (peace be upon Him) is the way, the truth, and the light. No one goes to the Father except through him. That was during his appointed time in Israel for the lost sheeps.
He was not the final destination, which is to God.(most glorious and most high)

He means that he is the only way to get to heaven. "I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the father (God) but by me."

You have to accept the fact that there is nothing you can do that is good enough to buy your way into heaven. You can only get there by accepting God's gift of eternal life (Jesus) and the forgiveness of all of your sins because Jesus paid for them already. You wouldn't pay someone for a present would you? You shouldn't try to pay for God's present either. Jesus was sent here to pay for our sins so that we can have eternal life.

He meant he was the model of moral virtue and spiritual enlightenment that humanity must imitate in order to break free from the chains of the material world and ascend to spiritual union with the divine.

Of "am I" and "I am", "I am" is the way unto life.

And of two, claiming to be I am, only that one is.
Other one "was, but is not"; No longer an "I am".

Of 2 ways, a broad way leadeth to destruction.
Of 2 ways, narrow way only "leadeth" unto life.
Life is then above and beyond the narrow way.

New, of old/new, has two good news to sort out:
a new & dead way <-vs-> "a new & living way".

Law is good, but also evil.
Grace is good, never evil.
Discern both good + evil.

Law was, but is not.
Grace is, always is.
Grace is sufficient (no law req'd).

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ WITH YOU ALL. AMEN.
