In a dc circuit (Direct Current circuit), the direction of current flow at any point in the circuit that is not a node does not change with time. Therefore, if you see that the current flow through a certain circuit element is in a certain direction (maybe left to right through the circuit element), then at any later time you still see the current flowing in that same direction. The magnitude of the current may change in a dc circuit, but the direction of the current flow may not change.
In an alternating current circuit, or ac circuit, the current direction (as well as its magnitude) changes with time. The current alternates flowing first one way, then the other way, then back again, etc.

DC is a flat, simple potential between one end of a wire and the other, such as in a battery (from the common 'dry cell' batteries used in flashlights, remotes, and MP3 players to the 'wet cell' batteries used in cars, trucks, and boats).
AC is a sine wave whereby the direction of this potential reverses direction in a regular cycle, such as your typical household electrical outlets.
The primary difference in characteristics is that Alternating Current (AC) can easily be shifted from one voltage to another. Higher voltages travel more easily along a wire than lower voltages do; some primary high-voltage power lines exceed 1,000,000 volts of electricity, which a series of transformers 'step down' into 230-volt house current (which is then split into two 115-volt circuits).

that's physics, AC is alternating current - it it has two cycles per second, while DC is a Direct Current it flows in one direction. n AC n DC are electron flows in the electrical circuit, ds it make any sense 2 u??

Ok...AC is generated power...it comes from windmills, or turbines where a magnet is spun to gennerate electric current. This is normally, in the US, done at 60 cycles a minute. It alternates...on and off...hence the name Alternating current.
DC is direct current or stored power in a battery. This requires that power be made...but stored by a battery made of something that holds a charge. All cars and trcuks use this becuase the system is portable.
Now...you can conver DC to AC...using an inverter...and you can store AC to DC.

In music, it still stands for Alternate/Direct Current because the band of that name thought it described their music. Even their album names had to do with electricity (Volts, Voltage, etc.).
There is supposedly some connotation to bisexual, but I do not remember what it was. In grade school we were horrified b/c we thought the band was full of bisexuals - oh my.

Alternating current is an electrical current whose magnitude and direction vary cyclically, as opposed to direct current, whose direction remains constant. The usual waveform of an AC power circuit is a sine wave, as this results in the most efficient transmission of energy. However in certain applications different waveforms are used, such as triangular or square waves.
