Kso we just got a chihuahau a week ago, and our neighbors have one too. Theirs bark like, all the time but mine only barks when she sees cats. Her bark is sorta raspy and I want to know if there's any problems with her?
Also, she is very quiet and isnt as hyper as my neighbor's.

Maybe its just depressed because it lost it's television endorsement contract. "Yo quiero Taco Bell".

(Sorry, just being silly)

Well, you do not have to worry when it doesnt bark. Thats a good thing. Dogs are like people because they have different personalities. Some are really outgoing, and some are shy. I have a boxer, and some boxers bark until they cant bark anymore, but mine will never bark unless she thinks my dad is going to hurt my sister when there just playing around. Just incase though, you should get her a check-up at the vet.

If she is a puppy then she won't bark as much or be as active until she gets a little bit older. My chi didn't start barking until she was about six months old. And then there are some that don't bark much. Don't worry, it's normal, not all dogs of the same breed have the same personality, same with people.

Some dogs are quiet just like some people. Think of it like a quiet person. There's nothing wrong with them. They just don't talk a lot. Dogs also have different voices. I can tell my dogs' barks apart even though they're almost exactly the same size. A friend has a littermate of the Lab mix and he has a different bark.

I'd be glad if all she barks at is cats. I wouldn't concern myself with how it sounds when she does. Chihuahua's are known for excessive barking that can drive you nuts. I had one and he barked if the wind blew.

You are so lucky! Chihuahuas are such barkers. I have two of them (love them to pieces). But my guess is since you have just had him/her for a week, we may still be getting used to our new environment. You may yet see the real Chihuahua come out! Have fun with your new dog. I would suggest strongly on obedience training.

You have to get a dog to stay with it to teach it to bark other wise it wont learn how too..

That is normal as all chihuahua's vary in their activity level. I wouldn't worry about it myself too much and just enjoy it, you got yourself one of the good ones there.
