Aww bless him. Don't worry it's totally normal and some babies just skip the crawling stage altogether. Get ready to grow eyes in the back of your head!

I had a boy like that 42 years ago, he never crawled but he was walking before 9 mos. So rest assured that it is not absolutely needed to crawl before you walk. My son is a very intelligent and successful man, has a masters degree in mathematics and statistics. He has a wonderful job and family. I couldn't be more proud, although others gave me concerns with their old wives tales. I have learned that if you are a sensible person with common sense, child rearing comes best naturally too. It doesn't hurt to ask questions, remember there are no dumb questions. Just ask.

There is nothing wrong with it but i would suggest you encourage your baby to crawl aswell.

I don't know a lot about this but sensory perceptions and experiences as a baby/toddler/child have some effect on the way we learn. Children learn better if they can experience the world through more means and have more balance and coordination - gained through different ways of moving.

It is also worth considering that research has found/suggested that babies who do not crawl are much more likely to develop some degree of dyslexia. It sounds absurd but check it out. I am a teacher and have researched dyslexia - every course i have been on links dyslexia to balance and coordination - to the end that dyslexia can be improved by certain exercises etc.

It might be wrong (I dont want to scare you) but if i were you i would be trying to encurage baby to crawl just to be on the safe side!! (You could play with him on the floor/carpet and model crawling for him...or put him in the starting position and guide him through it?)

Good luck! x x

Congratulations on having an independent son! He's starting early in life to get where he wants. My nephew started walking at 9 1/2 months. He never really crawled much either.

You've got a bright-spark there, don't worry about it. Enjoy it!!!!!!!!
Every child is different and develops at different times like we all do, if he is more interested in walking let him, there are certain things that us as adults decide we would rather by-pass and do something completely different, he may realise that he cannot master walking yet and decide to carry on trying to crawl for the time being.
Just praise him for what he can achieve and encourage him to do what he can't.
Good luck x x x

I have 3 kids 14, 2 and 6 weeks. My 2 eldest were not interested in crawling they both went straight to walking both at around the 8 month mark this looked really funny with my eldest as she had no hair and no teeth.

Every child is different if he wants to go for it he is probably more than ready for it, all I can say is have your camera ready to capture this magic moment

He is fine. Just encourage his walking by helping him. Not all babies will crawl.
My first was walking at 7 1/2 months and never crawled at all.

Start baby proofing,In a few weeks, he will be into everything!

My grandson never crawled - he went straight to walking. Different children respond and react differently, so much of it is all normal.

On the other hand my granddaughter crawled and then finally started to walk. She is a little over two now and can walk and run but we still see her crawl a lot through the house. Go figure

Don't worry some children do skip the crawling stage and do try to walk, there is no harm in this. I would encourage him, hold his hands above his head and slowly walk at the back of him, leaning over him, he might master the art of walking and then totally change and decide to crawl

I think this is perfectly o.k. My first born never crawled he walked from 9 months old. My other 3 crawled only very briefly. All walked by 12-13 mo. I guess I kinda encouraged it!!
