Not only does he look at any female (Old, young included, putting me at a safety hazard) when driving, he also smokes at home and the car, badmouthes me 6 days a week, is absent once a week, and once a week give me a pounding. I didn't ever do anything so what did I do to deserve this? Does he just hate the fact that my mother painfully gave birth to me? Maybe he should give birth... By the way am I from a dysfuctional family based on the above? Please answer all uestions.

Jilia, he provides me with living essentials, but he abuses me. Why don't you live with him or some other abuse and we'll see who's whining.

Wow.............first off. It depends, I know you don't deserve this but maybe your dad is going through something really tough right now. Have u talked to your mom or other close family about it??? My advice is to ask a trustworthy adult to help handle the situation.

Wow, your living a hell of a life. I know you love your dad. He might even beat you for the man he is NOT! You don't have to sit there and take it.. Abuse is real it can control your life in the future. Stand up and say NO MORE. you can report him.. yes its going to cause hell in the family.. but he might go over board one day and take your life.. Its hard am sure, do you have any friends to talk to? Maybe your father has been abused going up and that's all he knows but this change of abuse has to stop. Your heart is getting harder each day.. when you wish he was dead, or the thoughts of killing him comes to mind.. you have to get help because one day he might make you snap and you will be the one in prison.. YOU can change your life by getting help... Praying.. or moving with some other family members you don't have to stay.. who care about him giving you a roof top.. someone else can share there's with love as well.. Time to pack your bags and clean up your heart.. You are needed because there are more kids out there just like you that will need your strength on how you made it threw.

May GOD keep you.

Oh he sure is! You can't change him, don't even try. The sooner you accept that fact the better off you'll be. He's gonna be around, you just have to learn to work around him, like you do with other people.
When he smokes, badmouths you etc. ignore him. Trust me, that will get easier and easier. Stop asking yourself those questions. Even if the answers are yes, it's still not your fault. People often put others down to make themselves feel superior.

Your father's an a**hole.

Lighten up. Someday, you (like me) will be able to appreciate the fun that is almost always found in dysfunctional. Be optimistic. Always look for the good.

He is not being a good role model and yes he is not respecting you as his child. If you haven't done anything then nothing should be done to you. He may have had a family before he wanted to have one and had to grow up before his time. Sounds a little resentful. Alot of families are dysfunctional in one way or another. Just be the best you can and learn what you can, before long you will be out of there and if you have the knowledge it will be alot easier out in the world. Good luck.

Your dad is a sick person. Not much you can do except stay as far away from him as possible. By pounding, if you mean he beats you, I can only assume he beats your mother too. If he does, call the cops, you surely won't be losing anything. You can be placed in a shelter or some safe place. Good Luck. Oh, by the way, I grew up with a mother like that. I eventually left home and joined the Navy and got far away from her. I told her the next time I would see her she would be in a box. Yup.....

He may be a jerk, but you may be exaggerating. It sounds like you want pity and attention from your post. Quit whining. Does he feed you? Does he provide a roof over your head? If the answer to those two questions is yes, then shut up. You sound like a whiny little girl in your post. Thanks for clarifying the fact that you are a guy. Now try to be a man.

I don’t know that ‘disrespectful’ is the word that I’d use to describe the way your father is toward you.
‘Disrespectful’ is the word I would use to describe the way you are toward your mother…
Refer to your question… “Is my mother a… ?”

I am not going to judge whether you are from a ‘dysfunctional family’ just based on what you have said above.
I can only suggest that you perhaps sit down with your mum, and ask her if she can help you to understand what is going on.
If your father is bad-mouthing you all the time, and giving you a pounding, then perhaps your mother can explain why he does it.
At the very least, she should be trying to stop it from happening.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful !!!

How old are you? If you are truly in jeaporday call child services. No one needs to be in that situation. Yes your father sounds more than disrespectful...he is abusive. You didnt do anything to be treated that way. The abuser needs to take responsibility. If I may ..is your mother still around? Please get some help.

Yes he does sound like a bit of a plonker, but that is what all teenaged girls feel towards their fathers growing up. Don't worry, yours might be particularly bad but you'll grow up and leave home one day and it will be in the past then - keep quiet and live with it, it doesn't help to fight them .
