My sympathies for your loss.
Your body may take a considerable time to adjust to the sudden loss of your baby and both hormonal and emotional influences will dictate when your periods start again and how quickly they become normal and regular. There may also be an influence based on how many weeks pregnant you were.
To start with your periods may be very unpredictable - either very light or very heavy, with different lengths of time between them and you may even miss one or two until things finally settle down. And your periods may not be the same as they were before your pregnancy, even when they become regular and "normal" again.
Try not to worry too much about it unless you have very heavy and excessive bleeding or it becomes very painful (in either instance you should see a doctor). And bear in mind that during this time of re-adjustment, you may also be fertile at unpredictable times so that you should take proper precautions against becoming pregnant again as it would probably not be advisable so soon after the last pregnancy.

First of all let me say i am sorry for your loss. In my personal experience when the blood is really red, like an open wound, it is called natural blood. When this happened to me I was hemorrhaging, and required a doctors attention to remedy the problem. So, if you are unsure, you should call your doctor, or go to the emergency room for an exam. Hemorrhaging is a very serious situation that requires the skills of a doctor to stop the bleeding. Better safe then sorry. Good luck.

It can take up to 3 months for your cycle to regulate itself to be "normal", but six weeks is pretty typical for your body to first attempt to resume with menstruation. Periods after miscarriage can vary from spotty, heavy, light, and normal. It's also not uncommon to have breakthrough bleeding for a while in between periods. After my losses, my period was odd for several cycles. I'm sorry for your loss....wait until your body is healed and you are emotionally ready and try try again.
Edit....I'm sorry for your late pregnancy loss. Given that you were 37 weeks along, it is not likely that your period would start back up 2 weeks after the initial bleeding stopped. It will take a while for your body to get back to normal. I would say this is breakthrough bleeding, but if you have any concerns see your doctor. You should have several follow up check ups, so bring up these questions then.

First, I hope everyone flags that a.s.s.h.o.l.e. poster. To the woman with the question, don't even worry about normal cycles right now - it's gonna take your body a while to regulate itself, and just trust that it will naturally. I'm sure you have enough on your mind. Please find yourslef a support group, and take extra special care of your body. My first baby died when I was 20 weeks pregnant too, and I can understand how horrible you must be feeling.
There will be a light, don't worry.
