I'm old school in a lot of ways and I'm considered an oldie too at 49 yrs old. Let me start off with the word "school" a school is somewhere a person is taught and learns different vaules... whether it's at home or in a building. So if I were to say I'm old school...I'm basically saying that I like the older lifestyle. I'm use to Old School being refered to bikers, but Old School and Old Fashion can be interchangeable in my opinion. Old school refers to more of an older LIFESTYLE, and oldie refers to the age of something. If I see a 32 Ford, I would say thats an oldie and not old school. If I was old school in raising kids, and I found out that one of the kids mouthed back my wife while I was gone, they would be finding a switch (a tree branch to spank them with) when I got back. Today if I did that the state would come in and take them away. Well I hope this helped alittle, I could go on, but I think I said enough.

That is actually a saying that is used in only some areas of the country. "Old School" usually refers to music or the way someone was brought up. I think it is most commonly used by black people and probably most often used in the upper Midwest. I'm from the Chicago area and that is how it is in my experience.
Oldie is used by mostly older people, 50's & 60's.
also I agree with the guy above me

"Old School" stems from philosophy, where a certain viewpoint was called a School of Thought.
Hence we get the words OLD SCHOOL from the Old School of Thought, or outdated or nostalgic philosophy.
