I'm afraid it's the old problem about subjectiveness and objectiveness. In the same way that many nations expect people to be patriotic, stating that the nation they were born in is superior to other nations, religions vie for superiority.
Many nations are ruled by religions and may even put non-believers to death. An Afghan Moslim became a Christian in Germany and returned to Afghanistan. The Afghan governemtn practises Sharia law, where the sentence for converting from Islam is death. Luckilly, the man was not killed.
How can nations exist when people are 'forced' to believe a religious dogma? Shouldn't all states be secular, with people being allowed to practise any or no religion according to individual convictions?
If a religion were so wonderful, wouldn't people convert willingly, without being coerced.
Is there any proof that believers have gone to a paradise state after death, while non-believers did not?
As long as people are biased towards their relgion and persecute non-followers, I can't really see a peaceful future.

I like the idea.but an idea will not cure this problem. Wish all you wish to wish. If you are so sure of your beliefs that you can just jokingly toss out names like that then I would think that may be a large part of the problem. Freedom to believe as you wish is an awesome gift. But when people mock and snicker and point fingers they wonder why people become enraged. We Christians are used to it, Jesus taught us how to deal with it but I am afraid if you were not under US protection you could of been marked for your thoughtless comments on Islam.

I believe that your sentiments are correct - most people can live in peace. Unfortunately, extremism and politics cause problems for the rest of us who genuinely want to get on with our lives.
We need a World Peace Day, 24 hours of genuine cessation of hostilities where everyone can contemplate what it would be like to live together on this planet harmoniously and tolerantly.
It would be a start.

Cannot imagine why you were removed.I don't get how it works. Something really crass and crude can be up there for days...
Still if all you want is to live and let live in peace why bother asking questions about religions?
You don't have to know the whats whys and wherefores in order to let others get on with their lives in peace.

the propblem is more deep...the wars of US and UK for oil in the Arabian Gulf and the Russian invasion to Chechnya is for political and economic reasons more than religious..and those evoked a religious response among Muslims to fight those invader and then the whole thing turned to religion...It is all about two main things in the human nature: Greed and Intloerance..those are the main cause of wars from the beginning of the history.

It's a great idea and if the gods exist they probably get together every Friday for poker night, however it's their followers that seem to have the problem and it was probably one of them who reported you. Many people here seem to have a case of reporting-trigger-finger when someone expresses an opinion different to their own.

what religious belief system works for one may not work for another even if both are in the same culture and society. each person has free will to worship how they choose within certain limits of the Culture and Society in which they live. even within the same religious group there will be minor differences because of this free will. one needs only to respect differing belief systems the same way they want their belief systems respected. there are many ways to reach the destination all of us want to reach.

Religion itself is not the main cause of conflict, it is only the most (ab)used tool of the powerful to mask their greed.
Religious intolerance, together with the fear of being dominated by another religious group, which is always perceived to be even more intolerant as one's own, has always been the tool of choice for dictators and demagogues everywhere.

I really think South Park had it dead on with the Super Best Friends episode. (Figuratively speaking, of course.)
