I have to go to church today. I love the worship and the people there, but i have to sit in front of a message of watered down gospel. When i go to church i need to hear the truth not just half of the bible. I need to hear about my sin and i need conviction, not blessings and prosperity all the time. YES God does prosper us and He blesses us. But Jesus talked more about hell then prosperity. 2timothy4-3,For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine,but according to their own desires,because they have itching ears,they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned away from the truth........Jesus said the greatest prophet was John the baptist. He lived in the desert and wore ragged clothes and ate locust, he eventually was put in prison with his head cut off. instead of handing out the hard message and meat of the word they are handing out candy canes,and sweet honey. It wasnt sweet when peter was imprisoned.

It seems to me that you have outgrown your church. You may want to start seeking out another church. Don't feel tied down or obligated just because you feel comfortable and know everyone there. Venture out and seek His word. Not saying that there is anything wrong with your church but God may very well be leading you in another direction. I am currently going through the same experience. The most important thing in worship is praising God and spiritual growth. If you feel you aren't growing spiritually then it is time to move on. Peace and God bless.

Along with the answer given by AT, you can probably rest assure that what you are learning from your church is not even close to the truth. The fact is, finding the truth can be an exhusting task. However, God has always had a people on the Earth representing his name and one that he intends to save -just like in the days of Noah,and of Egypt, and of Sodom & Gommorah etc etc. When looking for the truth..keep this in mind: the true religion will be using God's name. They will be doing the work the Jesus commissioned us to do found in Matthew 24:14. Also, they can back teachings up in the Bible and would not be relying on false traditions like the Trinity teachings. Lastly, you will see racial harmony worldwide amongst them and a love for all mankind by not participating in hateful practices like politics and war. Do a little research, pray for understanding, and you will find the true religion.

What a blessing to see someone who wants more out of the word of God then just something that makes you feel good. Most saved folks will not go to churches that preach about hell, and our sin. I am not sure of your age but if you are young ask your mom can you try other churches if your old enough to be own your on. But if you are to young to be own your on talk to your parents about this. Show them what you have found in 2 Timothy. My mom is in a Methodist church and thats all she hears is stories that have nothing to do with the bible, but she says they make her cry. A sad movie makes me cry, but she neeeds to hear the whole word of God. Good luck and if your parents will not go to another church. The best thing you can do is pray and God will hear your prayer. But God might not answer the way you want. Maybe he wants you there to be a teacher of the word of God. Even in a dead church God can use you.

Too many pastors are preaching a "feel good" sermon these days when what people need to hear is the truth as it was written in God's word. I have abandoned the church building for this very reason. Pastors preach what the deacons and elders want to hear, not what the world needs to hear. I worship God in the music of the Gaither Homecoming tapes and other praise and worship tapes. I worship Him on the river bank, in the stillness of the forest, and in the beauty of the world he created.

I suggest that you first talk to your pastor about your concerns. Then, if you're still unhappy pray like crazy and ask God if you're really in the place that He wants you to be in, and if He says no, then you start looking for another church. Another thing you could do (but only if you are certain its God's calling for you) is study to become a pastor yourself. Or you could see if anyone else in your church feels the same way you do and start a bible study group with them so you can really go deeply into Scripture.

Spiritual maturity does not happen automatically or overnight. It is not self induced. It comes by growth in Grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ-Bible Doctrine.
There will be a maximum amount of contentment in the details and circumstances of life. Agape Love rules in the behavior because of Who is me and not because of who you are and how you behave. Mental stability is the ability to apply Bible Doctrine to any circumstance or situation in life. No disaster or circumstance in life can over come the happiness or contentment in the soul. Grace motivates us to do something for others, not their response, which gives that person grace to grow at their own pace. Doctrinal orientation to life gives us maximum capacity to accept the blessings from God. Control your Life rather than trying to control others, and a mature believer has more spiritual production in a short time than a legalistic believer does all his life.
A Spiritual Mature Believer will always put God first in relationships before people. This takes concentration on the word of God and hope in the Word of God.
Let God do the work in you, for He is Faithful to complete the work He began in us.

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

This is yet another propyecy that is come to pass with all the different religions and false teachings that go with them. But if you read the 5th verse, you will see that you have a responsibility to continue the word of God's ministry. Stay in the word, and not just when you are in Church, so you can recognize when you are being taught false hoods. You have that responsibility to yourself as well as your family.

The KJV bible is our light that keeps us from this world's darkness. It glows it's brightest when it is read completely and not as a "mulitple choice", the way most churches today use it. IF a scripture offends people, they will not teach it today, because of political correctness. Well that is not how God want's His word taught. He wants is taught in it's whole form the way He intended it to be taught.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

The only way Christians are going to know when we are being lied to is to study the word of God every day, and set aside time every day to meditate and pray with the Lord.

When you share God's word with others, be prepared, especially in today's time to loose even the friends you had for a good many years. For they too will turn away from you, if they are not in God's word the way you are.

It is now happening to me. But I embrace it, because i still have the Lord by my side. Find you a church that still teaches the true word of God if you are not happy where you are. God will lead you to it.

God bless you

I don't think you should give up your faith or anything, but if you don't like your church find a new one or find a denomination that better suits you. Maybe you should talk to the pastor/priest/reverend about it. Ask them to stop watering it down. And dont just sit back, you have a serious point. People need the whole gospel.

You have outgrown your church. Ask the LORD to lead you to a different one, one that offers deeper teaching and conviction. What city do you live in? Maybe I can help recommend one. Also, try going here where you can listen and watch sermons that are streamed all over the country. http://www.streamingfaith.org
If you feel OBLIGATED (you shouldn't) to continue going to your church, perhaps you can also attend a second church that has services at a different time.

It is definately time for you to seek a change of venue. Visit several new churches and see which one offers you the most spiritual growth.
