Yes. 3500 calories is what it takes to gain or los a pound - burn 3500 calories more than you take in and you will lose a pound. Eat 3500 calories more than you burn and you'll gain a pound. So, if you burn 350 additional calories per day by walking and you take in the same amount of calories you'll lose a pound every 10 days. 700 calories burned daily = 1 pound every 5 days, etc. You may not see absolute parity in the results, i.e. on the 5th day 1 pound drops off, but over the long haul this is what you'll see. The other thing is that the body metabolizes different calories differently, so some modification to your diet is a good thing unless you already eat really healthily. Also, figure about 13 to 15 calories per day multiplied by your current body weight to know how many calories that you can eat to maintain your exact weight now and then do it by your ideal weight. You won't be able to maintain the same number of calories as you lose unless you burn more by more exercise. Good luck and remember - nothing tastes better than thin (or at least normal)!

Yes, you would. My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.
On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.
The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!
Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.
Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.
Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

Recent studies show that exercise without diet change leads to more weight loss in men than women; this may be due to a higher average amount of muscle mass. As long as your diet includes reasonable caloric intake, then every little bit will help. Remember, the only way to lose weight and keep it off is to burn off more calories than you take in. So either burn off more or take in less.

Yes you would definitely start to lose weight depending on the intensity of the workouts, and what you are doing. For straight weight loss you would want to do cardio workouts (45mins per day). If you want to tone your body you would want to combine cardio and weight training. You would see much better results if you change your diet to a healthier diet (ie moderate fast food/ sweets, etc.) I hope you start a program and goodluck.

That depends on how big the diet is!
If the diet is over 2,000 calories a day for a woman or 2,500 for an active man, no!
You need to cut them slightly to 1,800 and 2,000 respectively and then go do areobics and work out a little.

Yes you would..!
In fact, I'm doing that, and guess what? I lost weight...
But there's only one thing that you have to remember, never stop exercising! Once you started it, there's no turning back! If you'll stop exercising, you'll start to gain weight....AGAIN..

Depends how much you exercise. Exercise can burn calories and increase your metabolic rate, but it always amazes me how much exercise it takes to burn even a small amount of calories.
