I believe the spirit lives on after death and that the human body is just a vessel to carry the spirit about on this earth...I was with my daughter, my nan and my dad at their time of death and knew they were gone before I was told because it was just as though the lights went out...my dads face changed so dramatically just as he passed and I knew there was nothing left of him as I knew him anymore. I think its just what you personally believe in and if it comforts you then what harm does it do? I don;'t need anyone to prove to me that my loved ones who have passed are with me every day cos I KNOW they are.

Even science says nothing is ever lost but merely changes form, its like the old bucket of water you can never get rid of the water no matter what you do so even if you are cremated after death yes you have the ashes but what happens to your life force or soul or whatever you like to call it.
P.S. once new a padre in the navy who saw many ppl die,He used to tell us about a pilot who crashed onto an aircraft carrier,he knew he was dying and in great agony but just before he died it was as though he saw something wonderful and died with a smile on his face and said to the padre they have come to meet me and show me the way home, Its good to believe in something.

I do believe that -I- will survive death. When a 4 year old child can give the complete details of a WW2 U.S. Navy pilot's last moments, including his name, outfit, type of aircraft -and- tail number has been thoroughly investigated and proven, it leaves no doubts.

Please do not attempt any mental gymnastics in repeating any textual answers to debunk what I have just written. I am Wiccan, and do not believe in any monotheistic ideology.

We do not each of us have our own immortal spirit that goes on after we die. When you die you are, indeed, most sincerely dead. The Breath of Life comes from God who is eternal and immortal. Men are created as flesh and blood beings from the earth and its contents. No where in the Bible does it state that there is a "holding" place for the dearly departed.

Jesus compares death to sleep in John 11:11-14. The Bible compares death to sleep over 50 times. Sleep means a state of unconsciousness. You are not aware because you don't have a functioning brain in order to be aware. There are two resurrections..one to life and one to death. (John 5:28,29). The body returns to the dust of the ground and the Spirit returns to God. (Gen 2:7. Eccl. 12:7. Psalms 146:3,4. )Human beings do not have immortality..only God does. 1 Timothy 6:16. The dead don't know anything. Eccl 9:5. Our promise and hope is in the Resurrection...Our Salvation is in Christ, The Word of God, who became flesh. Those that remain in Him, In The Word of God, He will remain in also. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

The spirit is the life force or breath of life, much like electricity, which powers the body, it does not constitute a seperate entity, when that is gone, you are dead. the soul is not a seperate entity either, a soul is a complete person (body + spirit together), when a person dies the 'soul' that they were ceases to exist. This is what the bible teaches, please see the links below for more information.

Yes!!! Because the Bible says in John 3:15-16 " that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not parish but have everlasting life."
