It's not a bible bash-er it's a bible thump-er. If you want to use a derogatory word for it. I think people who come to our door to give us a word from the bible or give us some encouragement should not be something we should get angry about. We have so many things in life that are negative. We should thank God someone has something encouraging to say. If you don't have time or your not interested just tell them in a kind word. There is no reason to get ignorant with them. Spend more time being thoughtful and happy and helpful to others. You only go through this life once make it a contented experience.

No they get that reply all the time and realize they ar ebeing blown off. The rudeness comes in the words you use the tone of voice o and also slamming the door in their faces, that is pretty rude.
Just as with everything else you can get your point across in a nice polite way or you can be a smart A and be rude, your call.

I'm assuming you mean bible thumper. The problem with saying you're not interested is it doesn't help them at all; they will continue to peddle their religion until you are or someone else is interested. The proper thing to do is to explain to them that god really doesn't exist, demonstrate this by looking up, calling out god's name, and showing there's no reply. Then explain to them that their bible really is a poorly-written piece of iron age literature, written by some crazed old men who claimed to be divinely inspired. Then you should graciously invite them to join the rest of us in the 21st century. You probably won't change their minds, but at least you will have done something to discourage this inappropriate behaviour.

In all cases, greet them as you would another person as it is only polite and customary to do so in civilised society, that is, in a warm and friendly manner. Then upon the first utterance of the bible:
"Thank you, like you, I believe in the holy trinity, but I'm already devoted to Shiva, the One who purifies Everyone through utterance of His name." (Healthy constructive debate with most religions should be encouraged) or;
"Thank you for you time. Unfortunately, I have prior engagements needing attention. I wish you all the best and hope to see you round this neighbourhood." (It's always good to have a friendly neighbourhood watch) or;
"I really do not see the light at the end of the tunnel. Show me if you do. (So as not to be impolite) Do leave me a contact; I shall call you when I'm ready." (Always good to have recourse should you decide otherwise.)

Good Luck and God Bless!!

It's not rude if you choose not to be rude. Just as they don't come through the door vilifying you, strapping you to a chair, forcibly retracting your eyelids and whamming the Book of Mormon in front of your face, you shouldn't be unnecessarily profane or vitriolic. A little civility can go a very long way.

You could save yourself the trouble and put your horns on when open the door, or if you think that's going too far, say you are not interested. It's not rude at all.

Just say that you're not interested for whatever reason and then wish them a good day.
Nothing wrong with that. It's possible to give a politely negative answer.

You're not obligated to talk to anyone who comes to your door uninvited. And if you start to listen to someone who has come to your door and what they say offends you, it's perfectly fine to tell them the truth. You can say it in polite language, but be firm, and then close the door!
