My guess is that the problem has to do with the incoming mail server, which I have listed as mail.yahoo.com. Do I have the server name wrong, or what?

And while we're at it, it's going to ask me for an outgoing mail server, for which I'll list smtp.yahoo.com:my_email_name. Right? If not, then what?

Thanks.

To get mail from Yahoo to your mail program via POP3 you need a paid for yahoo account

Or try Ypops

Good luck

E-mail programs on computers are different than just your regular web-based e-mail. Your e-mail has to provide POP or IMAP service for you to use those programs. The free Yahoo Mail does not have this, however for $25 / year, you can upgrade to Yahoo Mail Plus. There's also a free app that will allow Yahoo to go to your Mail app, but it's kinda a workaround. There are mail services that offer free POP access, like the one that comes with your ISP, Bluebottle (http://www.bluebottle.com ), or Gmail (http://www.gmail.com ). On those sites, you will find instructions on how to set up each service.

Setting up your computer for POP is great! I can check 3 accounts in about 2 seconds, where web-mail would take much, much longer.
