It seems everyone whom I explain my way thinking and attitude towards life and death towards seems to think I should get help or I'm some super depressed person or something. I'd rather not go into detail just to save time from reading "go seek counseling and medication now" reply's.

Basically I'm content with life and refuse to change my personality with meds, but everyone thinks my way of thinking is wrong and I NEED to change it....What I'm asking is could this be a possible sign of mental instability, or just an uncommon outlook on life?

Being normal in a society where people behave like conditioned animals is not a desirable end, so far as I can see. Most mental health professionals have been conditioned to regard anyone who is making their own choices as an aberration. It takes a lot of strength to resist being molded by a culture where politicians, bureaucrats, experts, dogma and "professionals" prevail.

Read the book "The Outsiders" by Colin Wilson if you would like some inspiration. Good luck.

You question is too vague....However, no one ever NEED's to do anything because someone else tells you to.

Most people are uncomfortable with ideas outside of the "norm" or their sphere of understanding; when faced with this fear most people have a tendency to get defensive and attack - the "your wrong, I'm right approach".

I would agree with you regarding meds. I don't disagree that meds can help some people sometimes, but I don't agree meds are the only answer. I believe doctors and people are too quick to jump on a pill as the solution to everything that ails them. Usually, if the issues is a psychological one it will not go away until it is confronted and worked through - in some case, meds can actually mask a greater issue and cause a false sense of security.

Don't worry about it. If you aren't intent on hurting yourself or anyone else then why worry about what others think. There have been some very intelligent people who haven't thought along "normal lines" and without them the world has the potential for being a really dull place. Enjoy your uncommon outlook on life... it'll probably make getting through the tough parts easier

Zooba, you feel the way you feel. If your actions aren't the norm, then I'd say you need to consider an alternative to your life. Alot of families have dysfunction, personality disorders, etc. Bipolar runs in mine. I've never taken meds, but there are times when all I want to do is be totally alone. It's a form of depression and some believe you should be treated for it. You have to decide what is best for you. hugs

The problem would be if it manifests itself in a way that is a danger to yourself or others...but if you at this point in life can handle the way you are and are no threat to yourself or anyone Else's safety..then I guess for now, that is the way you want to live your life....if you are suicidal...meds aren't always going to work for you...But getting to the bottom of why you feel so helpless and hopeless and despondent...is something you should consider..Please don't be thinking of hurting yourself or ending you life..you would be giving Satan just what he wants and he will be the winner of this battle...My prayers are with you...all things can be conquered and healed with God and Jesus

don't worry the world needs people that can think outside of the box who in my opinion "dare to be different" That is how changes and new ideas come into play. So don't be alarmed but accept it as that is who you are and who knows what you my inspire or create in the future. Stop and think of all the great men and women throughout our history that dared to think differently than those that were around them at the time. So cheer up you could be in great company

Just an uncommon outlook on life...If you aren't harming yourself and others, why does it matter. If you are happy with where you are and who you are, then good for you. Thats more than most people can say...

Hard to say without knowing what your thinking is. I would think that if you were depressed you would know it.
