She may - and then again, she may not.
Have you ever heard someone saying that they 'pee'd themselves laughing?'
Let her know that you are not happy with her doing it.
Let her out in to the garden when you get home and before you pet her.
When she goes out and has a pee first, then tell her what a good girl she is and make a fuss of her - she'll get in to the routine and you won't have to put up with the mess!
And if that doesn't sort it out, then take her to the vet - she may genuinely have a weak bladder.

My girlfriend has a Staffy and she has been peeing everytime she sees me and she does it when other people come round too. I know that she didnt used to do this before I came onto the scene. She is 10yrs next month and has been doing this for the past 5 years. I was reading the other reply about it being submissive urination and I think this is right and we have tried everything but nothing works so I think that we will just have to put up with it.
Hopefully yours will grow out of it tho. All the best

Lots of dogs have this issue. Try this for a few days.... When you come home do NOT acknowledge the dog. Put up your coat or purse or whatever. Get on your house clothes. In other words let about 10 minutes pass before you pet the dog. Its the separation and being back with you that sets them off. After a few days it should stop. I know its hard not to grab them right off and love on them but it really will help. My boss just went thru this and was amazed at the difference. good luck. m

This is called submissive urination. It's a common, well-understood problem with dogs. One thing you should know is that punishment for this is pointless...don't bother. It's a biological reaction that your dog can't help no matter how much you shout or give treats or what-have-you.
I think the best thing to do is "calmness" activities. Practice having your pet around new people, those coming to the door, etc., under calm orderly circumstances. That way, she'll get used to new situations and be less excited and less likely to have the submissive urination problem.

My dog still does that every so often. She's 4 years old. I think some dogs grow out of it, and some dogs don't. My mom's dog does when she gets home from leaving her dog at home for awhile. She knows to wait for her to come outside first before my mom goes into the house, so she can pee outside first.

Little kids do this too. Don't worry, she will grow out of it. Be sure not to punish her for it, as she can't help it.
If you can identify the situations where this happens, you can take some ameliorating action. My dog used to do this every day when I got home, so I placed a sheet of old carpet in front of the door where he would greet me to keep it off the good carpet.

This is actually true. I've had dogs all my life! When the dog pee's in the house, grab her and rub her nose in it. Don't be too hard! Give her a gentle smack too! then put her out! If she pee's outside in the garden when you let her out.. give her a reward and make a big fuss of her..'Good girl' etc. You will see a change in a matter of days.

This is a nervous condition, so when you come home and greet her, sit down, and calm her right away. If you see her getting over-excited, take her outside immediately so she can go relieve herself, then bring her back in to play or say hello, or whatever.
If it continues after doing this for awhile, take her to the vet, it could be a small bladder or something else worth investigating.

Here is something all can do, do not greet her when you come home, do not look at her when you come home, do not touch her when you come home, do not bend over her, let the excitement of anyone comming home, die down, then touch her on the head lightly, do not bend over her when you do that. I think a really great thing you can do for her, is take her to OB classes, I reccomend them for most dogs. She will then get over this submissive, afraid, behavior, Good luck

urination during excitment is an often case...Make sure your dog is always calm and wash away excitment with a good game or a nice walk. Exciment is a psycology promblem w/ dogs.
