I agree wholeheartedly with Newmarket. He's the best of the European 3yos right now but after Ivan Denisovich took out Librettist I'm not ready to concede that GW is the best miler in Europe. Overall though the milers have not been especially deep this year. GW and Araafa have been trading decisions back and forth, Librettist was quite good in France but none have been completely dominating, often against less than stellar competition. Let's see how GW fares in the Breeder's Cup. The American contingent looks particularly strong - and remember the last time the Breeders Cup was at Churchill Downs Rock of Gibraltar was supposedly unbeatable.

It's never a good idea to try and compare horses of different generations as you can never replicate the same circumstances.
Is George Washington the best miler ever? Probably not. Is he the best miler of his generation? Yes.
Is he certainly a talented and quirky individual, just like many of his family (Bordighera - his mother - had a few issues, as did his half-brother Grandera).
Watch out for fireworks shortly at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale - George Washington's yearling half-brother by the mighty Pivotal is selling as Lot 17 on 3rd October.
