Is God a man or woman.?

Please explain and justify your rational for believeing either or neither.

i have a query ... answer me this first then , i will asnwer u whether god is male or female. my question is .... is the soul male or female ?

My rationale and my belief go hand in hand. When God made humankind "He", as WE say, made them man and woman. Not separately either, woman was taken out of the rib of man. Infact, the actual Hebrew word we translate as rib, is in Hebrew a word that means soft fleshy part. That could be a gene as far as I am concerned and I do think it was one of Adam's gene strains that was used but my point is that God made them male and female and in 'his' image and likeness. God is spirit and we are spirit wrapped in this body bag that protects us on earth and gets us around. It is supposedly the man who wins the bread and the woman who keeps house. So now why did so many women want to work and why have some men chosen to be bakers and stay at home dads and so on? I believe it is because men and women come from the same batter. We have sexual differences so that we can go forth and multiply and along with those come an array of physical complements to attract the other. We come from the same dough tho. If we were put together in one lump mankind would have feminine traits and masculine traits all in one same little cookie. That being would be the loving father and the nurturing mom, the father defender of home and family and mother defender,,,breadwinner, discipliner and single parents DO take on both roles. It is harder alone, but if the two are together as one it is easier. Doesn't that tell us too that the two are one that is broke in half? So much for mankind. Now let us look as much as we can at God. God the disciplining father and loving forgiving what? Mother. The one we are fashioned in likeness of. I therefore believe that if God made a body for God it could be male or female because one is half of the other but God has no physical body and is a spirit, just like we are inside. I believe that spirit is the full encompassment of all the attributes of a mother and of a father and that together those make a being whole. I do therefore conclude that a whole personality has the attributes of both male and female to complete it or make it whole and that God is therfore, what shall I say but neither man nor woman but instead both male and female. Since our God is pure spirit and a spirit can never be created or destroyed, nor can electricity, I also believe that the true shall I say form of God, is electrifying and more, more powerful than that. That form has the power to create and destroy or to do anything and never end so God must be beyond atomic or nuclear power even. Infact God has to be the source of all energy and power in order to create it and to give life to anything created by God. So I guess if I had an expectation of how God would look, it would not be as a man or in the form of a woman. God has to like the lightning striking, the hurricane swirling, the atomic bomb going upward, and just be all of the most Awesome and most Powerful enrgies rolled up into one place at one time. Ofcourse being that tremendous power, means that God also does not have to be all in one place or one time either, but has to be Fearsome to behold...but neither just male nor just female, but instead all of the attributes of both combined. That is what I surmise. It does not make it so, but I think it is and unless someone can show me that I am wrong, that is what I will believe because that is how it all makes sense to me. Does it matter will be the better question. Would you be less likely to worship a female God/Goddess? I do not believe God needs a gender. However, I guess if you were to go by scripture then it leans toward male dominance. He is called the Father. And any time God is mentioned it is as a male figure. I guess we will never know for sure til we get there and see for ourselves. Until then...why sweat the small stuff?

Both male and female (not man or woman though), both principles/energies/having both qualities... Indeed God created them as THEY were, male and female. I believe Adam and Eve were ONE, male and female, before the fall in consiousness/ At the wedding we will be reunited to our original state... Oh I think that there is Father God (daddy) and Mother God (Holy Spirit, mamma) and the Son who I hope to reunite with...

PS Oh yeah that we people here are female energy, (Eve) and that we are looking for A Love we have lost long ago. That it is not our natural state to be seperate from that Love...

Since he could produce both males and females, that would make him male, as only males have that ability. Clone a male and you can get a male or female, simply by removing the X gene. You cannot do the same with females.

One thing of interest when feminist argue that God and the angels are women, they still refer to Satan and the Demons as male, even though they are also angels.

Genesis in the Old Testament says, "God made man in his own image." also, "male and female created he them." The masculine pronoun is in the original book because for ages the male was thought dominate. If he made them two halves of his ideal whole then he has both characteristics.
In the New Testament Jesus, speaking of heaven said, "They will not marry nor be given in marriage, but will be like the holy angels."
