Just moved to UK for 2 years - will be returning to US in 2008. Need to buy a TV, wanna get a big LCD. Understand NTSC = US standard and PAL = UK standard, but don't know any more than that. Is there a place on the web where I can get basic info on TV's video standards, signals, etc? Kinda like "Video Standards for Dummies" pr something?

Great: I've gotten a couple of good pointers: Thanx for the help. What I need to know is this: Are LCD and plasma displays permanently tied to a video standard like NTSC or PAL, or is the vid standard simply a part of the tuner? In other words, if I buy a HDTV with an NTSC tuner, can I pump PAL signals into it from a set-top box, or will it simply not work with PAL?
