Sonys are kind of expensive but pretty good. For a 5MP though try Panasonic or the new Kodaks or Sanyo Xacti or Canon.

Depends on the camera really, decide on a model and check the reviews on the net. Cnet is always a good place to start.

Canon all the way. I have a canon powershot s30 that I bought 4 years ago. of course it is outdated now, but it still suits my needs and takes such great pics that I can not justify replacing it. I am waiting for it to break and it will not. lol Since then we have bought canons for my mom and sis and they love them too.

I used this site to help pick my first and still my only digital camera, Hope this helps you.
