Hi. Look, I am no expert and I hope you are getting really good professional help, but let me offer a simple thought that might be of a little help. I am willing to bet that you can tell when you are about to do this. Even though you are very upset, you can still feel the little trigger go off when you start your frantic run to the kitchen. That trigger is what you need to focus on. When it goes off, when the urge first begins, you need to plant a little alarm in your head. A warning device to protect yourself. What would that alarm sound like for you? You have to choose how to describe it. It doesn't have to be a jangly alarm clock noise or a loud siren. It can be anything that you feel inside will stop you and get your attention. For example, I planted a little alarm idea in my head to always see a picture of my little dog when I started to get too angry. It always melted my heart and helped me slow down. See what I mean? Make it a gentle and loving exercise to "plant" your little alarm idea. Think of what will work uniquely for you. That way, it is sure to work. And the next time you start feeling that urge, pay attention to your alarm when it goes off and let some love cool your hurt.

Mental disorders have to do with neurotransmitters being out of balance. The trick is getting them back into balance. This is a two step approach. Good physical health and cognitive therapy. Physical health to provide the necessary chemistry so that your mind can have what it needs and cognitive therapy to help the mind implement the proper balance of neurotransmitters. Sounds a little complicated, but it's really not. Just takes a lot of practice. This book will help you understand cognitive therapy:
