This is why I could never be a cop, I would take a person apart for this.

Their satisfaction comes in knowing that this person will be in handcuffs in the back of their vehicle, and not withstanding any lawsuits for police abuse to free the suspect, they will spend a whole lot of time in jail.
It is called restraint, and they trained to use restraint and they are aware that their arrest might be thrown out if they abuse a suspect.

You have to leave your temper in your locker. I have to go into "machine mode" in those situations, and just let my training take over. It's been described as borderline dissociative, but you just do your job like a pro, and leave the rest up to the system. I'm a 6'2" 218 lb retired Marine, and veteran cop, so I cannot let my temper take over, or someone will get hurt. I definitely don't want to turn some subhuman peice of trash into a martyr, or a millionaire if I decide to bust him up and get sued and maybe prosecuted myself.

Well, you know you can lose your job for this. Most of these pervs aren't worth that. There is also a thing called "curbside justice". It is saved for the worst of the worst. "He fell trying to escape custody yrhnrrr". There is less of this than there used to be with civilian review boards.
Another thing is you sort of stop getting shocked. Not that you ever don't feel for the victim, it's just that you stop wondering who and how and why could anybody do that? White hot anger gets in the way of doing the job.

I respect law enforcement officers for doing that. At 5'10, 195lbs of lean muscle, I would physically break a persons bones that abused a child if I caught them.........I praise our police in having the aility to do that!

It's hard. My last case before I retired(medical) was because I lost it. Had a report of a child rape, went to the ER and the dad was there. We found out him and 4 friends got drunk/high and raped his son. If my partner hadn't grabbed me I was going to shoot him right there in the ER. This was my 25th case like this.

I SURE IT IS NOT EASY ON THEM,BUT THEY HAVE A LOT OF TRAINING TO HANDLE THINGS LIKE THAT . I am sure some would like to hand it them self ,but no that would also be wrong. Please do not think they don't care.

Some times they don't and that is why there is a high percentage of officers who drink and have home trouble.

Surely they will be furious on the inside but they trust the system to work - to protect and to serve.
