I have very addictive behaviors and one of them used ot be video games. for a while, I tried to get interested in other things, but I would always end up going back to sitting there hours on end playing my life away. the only thing that works is to literally take the game away, the console, paddles, controllers, games...all of it. out of sight, eventually out of mind. hide them at a firend's. but before you do this, think of things to do when they get bored--this happens almost instantly, so make a pretty full line-up of events! wear them out

Don't worry, let him play. He'll get bored of it sooner than you realise. I used to play for 14 hours straight and get up in the midle of the night and play until 7, then breaky then back to playing. I'm ok now.....though I still play for about 6 or 7 hours a day.

He needs professional help because this is clearly an addiction. There is no need for him to play this long but he feels the need to do so. Your whole family should support him and then involve him in therapy or this will take over and then destroy his life.

well you can pull the plug and sell the tv... but then I dont think that , that will solve the problem, he is like millions of other kids, can not separate reality from fantasy. Lets hope he is not a future welfare recipient.

hide his video game somewhere and don't tell him about it and give him a nice book to read and then he will forget about the video game.
