do you actually know her? I mean girls wouldn't feel comfy if you don't know them and vice versa. If you just went up to her even if you weren't friends, then yea, it could've been ackward for her. But let's say you did know her for quite some time, she has no reason to walk away like that. If so, she isn't a good match for you.

Dude, that's it! She doesn't like guys shorter than her. But that's not your fault; most people cannot be blamed for their height. Find someone else to go with you; anyone who cares about you would not make a big thing out of your height. She might even be embarrassed about the idea of going to a dance with a shorter guy.
But don't feel bad about not being tall; some of the cutest guys are not tall. My son's father is only 5'6", and I found him to be much cuter than many taller men, until I saw how bad his attitude can be! Bad attitudes can make ANY guy ugly, even if he's as tall as the Sears Tower in Chicago.
Good Luck!

You did nothing wrong. It is all on her. She just wasn't interested in you. Take it from a short guy like myself. A lot of tall women do not like men who are shorter than they are. Many that I have spoken to don't like them shorter than they are because it makes them feel physically awkward or unprotected.
Rejection happens. Her loss. Move on to the next one.

A lot of girls/women only like men/boys that are their height or taller. Others feel kind of awkward when they are with a smaller person. It might not have had anything to do with your height, maybe she heard you spend too much time on your pc.

You didn't do anything wrong. It sounds as if she might have been embarrassed about saying "no thanks" and that's why she walked away. Unfortunately, there will be lots of these experiences in your life with opposite sex. It happens to all of us. So chin up, and don't beat yourself up about something that someone else has a problem with not you.
Good luck!

omg... well if shes twice as taller than you what do you expect... i wouldnt dance with someone that is that shorter than me. not becoz i didnt like the guy ... i might even like really like him but i still wouldnt dance with him as it would just look odd. and really strange and the talk of the day. so she might like you but your height is in the way of you and her having something together as a couple
or she might not like you atol....hehehe

You didn't do anything wrong. Your size is not a crime either. This is just her preference. And maybe there is something better waiting for you.
