The fact that love cannot be compared to a light switch: You cannot shut it off whenever you want. The fact that at this day and age people don't take relationships as seriously as our grandparents' generation did. The fact that when we get dumped it's not easy for us to accept that a person is gone. The fact many people don't know accurately what love is and how it means to treat someone when really loving a person.

I'm sorry I'm explaining this in a complex way, but can't think of a simplified way to explain this.

Love does not hurt as you state. Breaking up does because it is like a death yet there really is no death and you could see the other all the time.

Love is the greatest feeling in your life. Breaking up is one of the worse.

Because you grow up hopes and then they are destroyed. You just cant win if you dont play I guess. If you're feeling down, just focus on the other important things in your life, school/work, friends, hobbies, activities etc. Love cant be everything you have in your life, if it was or is, do something to change that :)

hi
love doesn't hurt, but when we are in love, we expect a lot, and also give alot without expecting much, i feel love only hurts when the expectations and intensity of love doesn't match, otherwise love if well adjusted in intensity and expectations, if the most beautiful feeling on earth, but of course losing true love does hurt

good question- with many possible answers!

i think its because when u fall in love all ur other defense mechanisms against emotional pain just disappear and u expect ur partner to be aware of that and be gentle with u!! but guess wut- that doesn't happen!
also, i think its because in MOST situations, there is one partner who is more "in-love" than the other. therefore this leads to a lot of insecurity and emotional turmoil.
falling in love is amazing, but ppl tend to fall out of love as well. everyone's had their heart broken, but what differentiates ppl are the ones who have healed without bitterness and have just learnt that its part and parcel (spell?) of life.
don't have too many expectations from anyone. it might make it seem that u are putting up a wall, but remember that taking this precaution is worth it, because you are worth it (he..he!!)

this is not a perfect world.. and people do mistake. sadly.. in a relationship.. you often hurt poeple who you love the most.

its how you look at it. only through pain, would it make you stronger and appreciate love even more when you do have it.

it hurts so bad and then one day you meet the love of your life, and you can now look back and see how you have learnt and how you have grown to be a better person from that love that hurt.... if it was truely love it would not hurt. love is something wondeful, not painful...... when it does not hurt, then you know it is love.

Love is the best feeling in the world. It only starts to hurt when it is used against you.

Because it feels so good. Everybody wants to be loved, and when it's not there it can be like a hole in your heart. Pain fades, and time heals. Love will come again.
