Don't buy a plasma tv. They loose their brightness within 3 years. The best bet is to buy a LCD tv. They are about the same as a plasma but will last longer. Samsung has good ones but the best way to find a good one is to go to a best buy and look at all the ones they have on display.

I really would like to know where people get the idea that a plasma TV burns out after 3 years. It is absolutely insane to think that such a thing is possible! Plasma TVs are currently rated for 60,000 hrs to half life. That means that after 60,000 hours of TV, it will be half as bright as the first time you turned it on..... At 8 hrs a day for 365 days a year, that's 20.5 years. Why would retailers offer 4 and 5 year warranties on a TV that's only going to last 3 years. The only type of TV that should have any maintenance in the first 4 years should be DLP and LCD projection TVs because they have lamps that burn out about every 3 years.

If you're serious about buying a plasma, look at pioneer. They're Pro fhd1 1080p piece is quite spectacular.

Plasma TV or LCD TV, decide yourself after seeing all such TVs in a store near to you. Since these are latest technologies and many manufacturers have started marketing it recently, it is advisable for you to check all models yourself before deciding to buy one.
