Hear me out:

Christianity believes that the ONLY way to get to heaven is thru Jesus Christ. And that spreading the word of Christianity is required and requested by God himself.

With this at its core, how could any Christian be accepting of others beliefs without looking at them as "lost souls" or someone in need of saving? And isn't that condescending to ALL non Christian belief systems?

At least Atheism believes we're all equal and all headed to the same place......the void.

Why are you asking a question when you have already answered yourself, and are obviously not open to any other opinions? Do you need to reassure yourself of the superiority of your (lack of) beliefs, by ridiculing others for having one? Here on the answer forum, I assure you it will be easy to do- but what a hollow victory it is.

The only thing Christians are intolerant of is sin- not the sinners. I realize not all Christians are good at making the distinction between the two, but then none of us are perfect. Catholicism teaches that to gain Heaven, one must only believe in the Supreme Being. Hence, we will share Heaven with Jews and Muslims, and others - not Christian, but serving and believing in God to the best of their ability. We believe we have the easiest road, not the only road- to Heaven.

It is extremely condenscending on your part to believe your are somehow doing us poor misguided Christians a favor by revealing the superiority and egality of your atheistic views. I am certain you will find a great number of posts to support your views, and be able to reassure yourself in the rightness of your views. When you are ready to actually ask a valid question, though, and equally willing to be open to honest answers, try asking again. And the next time you ask a question, don't try to answer it yourself. Save yourself the points.

I have had about 8 years of Christian Education. The thing is we should spread christianity to as many people as we can reach. But God is the one to let the Holy Spirit into someone's heart. It's not the person that preaches it that does it. In other words we do the preaching and God let's it take into affect. As a true Christian, we do what we can, but if the person doesn't accept Jesus in their life, then it's truley not our fault. The anwser to your question is no, intolerance is definitly not a core value of Christianity. If someone doesn't accept Christianity, a true Christian will accept this fact and do the best that they can to try to convince them that believing in Jesus Christ is the way.

I can only speak for myself but I believe (as the Bible says) that we were all created equal. I don't consider myself to better than anyone else just because I am a Christian. I have friends of many faiths, my Brother in Law is Jewish and my Sister in Law is a Jehovah's Witness. While we worship differently we have a mutual respect for each other and our beliefs. All Christians are not close minded. I respect how others were raised and how they choose to worship. That's whats so great about our country. We all have the right and the freedom to worship (or not) as we see fit for ourselves.

Christianity does show tolerance. It is stated in the New Testament that those who never come to even hear of God or Jesus can still get into Heaven if they keep to the laws of their religion. If a non believer comes to Jesus but the spouse does not, then he/she is justified in the eyes of the Lord. Otherwise that would put their children in a bad position.

If intolerance means means a distinction between true and false and between good and bad, then everyone of us is intolerant. When we say, "That's not fair!", we are being intolerant. When we throw rocks at the Klu Klux Klan, we are being intolerant. When we want child predators to be punished, we are being intolerant. So obviously, intolerance is not necessarily a wrong thing. We should be intolerant of many things that are dead wrong. And so we are. Christians believe in the One, and the One Way. That means they are intolerant of false ways. They see the Way as the truth and the rest as false, because the Bible says some pretty scary things. Now you are intolerant of them. I bet you never have truly searched yourself out to find out why you really are intolerant of Christians. Sir Julius Huxley said the reason we went after evolution so gladly is that we didn't want to give up our fornication, and that by a proponent of evolution. Let's face it, Christian intolerance, so-called, is not the problem. Someone telling me what to do, is the problem. At heart we are rebellious as hell. That is it, we are intolerant of anyone telling us we are wrong and need to change. Hell no, we say. No MF is going to tell ME what to do. F off. That sounds intolerant to me. So in your case, intolerance is good, but in their case intolerance is bad. I see a bit of conflict there, a bit of hypocrisy. Par for the course, we are all that way too. No biggee, just calling a spoon a spoon.

Yes. Everything in the bible contradicts so much, and can be interpreted in many ways to suit the individual. Alot of Christians use this to cover up their own intolerance. Hence also why you can never get a direct answer to a question, or you get several different answers as each has interpreted in a different way.

Well I am a Christian and I personally don't care what you believe. I don't have to answer for anyone. If you want to believe in GOD, Buddha, Allah, the snowman, or nothing... that is up to you. I believe that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life... but hey... not everyone does and that is just fine with me.

Oh man, you don't know much about Christianity do you.

I'm a Christian, but I do not believe in the fundamental position as the one you describe. I hate it if people act as simple as to put us all into one big stereotype group.

I respect that you're Atheist and I believe if you make the best of your life God will forgive you. But please stop blaming me of a fundamental position I don't hold.

There is no any prove of this. Please do not bring Modern Bible to find it as Bible does not content 50 % of original message which was told by Jesus.

Abraham, Moses, Jesus were not Christians. Jesus was not christian. They were muslims ( those who submitted their will to GOD)

Christians can't practice their faith in North Korea, and Kim Il Jung has killed people for doing so. That is intolerance.

If Christians were intolerant, they wouldn't pray for those who have not recognized Christ as savior.
