I think that's just the title of the King or Queen, isn't it? Liz will have to kick it before Charles, apparently much more closely inclined towards Deism than strict C of E, gets to be 'defender of the faith'.

I'm not British; I'm Canadian. But even in Canada (where max 15% are Anglican) Liz gets that title - and even gets to wear it in French too. I just think it's funny, and proof of the head-up-the-backside nature of 'our' monarchy...
