I have three children and today I was calling my little one, but forgot her name and then I said, "You, whatever your name is." Is this a sign of Alzheimer? It is 3:00am but now I cannot sleep. I am just testing myself to see if I remember all of the names of my family members. Can you develop it at any age? Will I forget things from now on everyday or once a week? How often? I hope I remember to come back to check the answers.

I am really impressed because you guys don’t know me and made an effort to make me feel normal. I don’t smoke, drink and finally finished my beta blockers this week. We just moved to a different state this year and my husband left immediately for Iraq. It is just me and the children, so my brain is fried. Thanks for all of the great answers. I love you all!

What I suggest you do is go back to bed and try to get some sleep. Also, you should do what you can to increase your electrolyte intake. This can be done by adding lemon to your ice tea, or try adding lemon to Coca-Cola. I did that once, and it was wonderful. Also, if you smoke, you should quit, or at least cut down. The same thing can be said about alcohol use. Lastly, do everything you can to avoid all artificial sweeteners. They can do more harm than good to your system in more ways than one. Including effecting your memory.

You don't have Alzheimers! You're normal, you have three children and a busy life. I can't tell you how many times I've called my children 'John, Mary, Joe, whatever your name is......oh, put your labels on!' Sometimes I get the dog and cat's names in there too. Funny how I never seem to call my husband by other names, if I can't remember then 'darling' or sweetheart' does just as well. Please don't be scared or lose any more sleep over it, as you'll see from all the answers here there's absolutely nothing wrong with you and you're certainly not alone in this! God bless.

Don't freak out yet. Are you under stress? Stress can do really freaky things with your mind. I was under severe stress because of a really whacked out client I was working with. Anyway, after two weeks of working with her, I went to the parking lot and for the love of God could not remember which car I drove to work. I was looking for a car I had traded in a year ago. How crazy is that? Went to the doctor because I thought I was developing brain damage of some sort. Turned out to be stress. Dumped the client and got my sanity back right quick. If you're under stress, that could be the culprit.

sounds like you have a lot on your plate. give yourself a true mental health day and take a break from your life. A trip, long ride, boat trip, basically somewhere you can get away from your surroundings. and by all means turn off your cell phone and only answer if you get a 911. Iit's time to be a little selfish and take some time for yourself. Moms especially tend to think about everyone first and themselves last, i'm glad you asked this question . . . it's the first step, You count . .. sounds like it's time you let others know.that you need time for yourself.

I hope that this is a joke. I also have 3 children and forget their names all the time. We are so over-worked and over stimulated that it is completly normal. Besides, if it was Alzheimers you probably wouldn't remember that they are even your children.

If it was 3am when you were trying to remember the name, I can understand that! What has been on your mind lately? Are you stressed or concerned about something that you may not have any control over? Pray and then get into the will of the Lord more.

*LOL* sorry. I know you are serious but don't sweat it dear..it happens to all of us that have or had little ones running around..heck my mom in law still gets the names of her sons and her brothers mixed up..with 8 male names and 5 seconds to respond..it is tough for the mind to catagorize everything at once. You will be fine. just tell your little one that mommy was having a rough time and sometimes her brain is working too much to straighten things out all the time..you are normal..whatever that means anymore ;o)

With three children, I'd say you are just overtired. You sound way too young to worry about loss of mental capability. You probably need a break - can someone watch the kids and let you rest? It's probably the perfect cure! I know, I'm a Mom, too!
