It's 4am here, and I accidently posted this in Community Service a minute ago. I can only imagine what they are thinking, lol!!

Don't bother answering this twice. Just wanted to make sure the R&S folks saw the follow up.

Tanya...I agree, by why fear the inevitable? Especially if you believe in an afterlife?

huntstoma...not at all my friend. I've seen enough in this life that I know there are things out there far worse than death. My only fear is that I will die before my children are completely self sufficient. But do I fear death itself? Not at all.

upallnite...if I told you that I live each day in constant, excruciating pain brought on by disease, would you believe me when I tell you that I don't fear death?

I was clinically thought dead for some time because my heart arrested. During this experience I felt suddenly that my hospital trolley that I was lying on was being pushed faster and faster and the suddenly I found myself in a huge field that was full of big, big sunflowers, there was a beautiful scent wafting all around me, and suddenly I found myself on my feet (this itself was remarkable. since my torso had been cut for surgery) and walking towards the brightest light possible, but also a cool light that did not hurt my eyes. Just as I was about to make out the 'being' in that light, my doctors managed to revive my heart and I awoke.
So death is inevitable, so why fear it? And that doesn't mean that I encourage taking ones own life, because it's not for us to take.

1. It can hurt. A LOT!
2. I have seen people pulled apart by the tracks of a tank, burnt to death, bleed to death, beat to death, ect....
3. Other than the movies I have never seen anyone happy to die.
4. Fear is healthy. Being afraid of the pain that comes with death does not keep me from doing my duties as a Marine.

As a Marine I noticed the people that claimed to not fear death were the first ones to hide when the ____ hits the fan.

I am afraid of death because there is no way one can know what death is. I believe it is like a chemical reaction fizzling out. But because I am this chemical reaction that will fizzle out and I have perceptions and fears I am very afraid of the idea. But once I am dead I shall not be afraid of anything anymore. So I understand that I should not be afraid but I would be lying if I were to say that I am not afraid.

Spooky, are you afraid of death?

I'm afraid to die.....because I have no idea what's going to happen to my consciousness/spirit etc...after death. Did I get my faith in God right? Did I fulfil my purpose on this earth? What if the Christian's are right after-all and death is going to be a hellish experience? I mean who knows what happens when you die?

Also, I worry about my kids....what will happen to them when I am gone? Sigh.....

F.Y.I. I do not belong to any organized religion. I am spiritual by nature.

I am not afraid because death is just the stop of function of organs. But I just hope I don't die a painful death.

i am afraid of death because of the thought of being separated from my family and loved ones. i love them very much, and the thought of not seeing them again makes me fear the inevitable time when this will come to pass.

although, i fear them dying before me even more.

Not death itself, but losing life.
Though 'Afraid' is probably the wrong word.... more like 'concerned' woulkd be better.

I fear death in as much as I fear sleeping.
