Yes it certainly can.
Depression does cause symptoms such as low mood, excsessive sleepiness, and fatiigue. Of course these symptoms could also be caused by other medical conditions as well, so it would always be best to see a physician.
Physicians generally use the following DSM (Diagnostic and Satistics Manual) IV criteria to diagnose a major depressive episode. If you suffer from mild depression you will not meet these criteria, but you can get a reasonable idea of what sort of symptoms are caused by depressive disorders.
A. At least 5 of the following, during the same 2-week period, representing a change from previous functioning; must include either (a) or (b):
(a) Depressed mood
(b) Diminished interest or pleasure
(c) Significant weight loss or gain
(d) Insomnia or hypersomnia
(e) Psychomotor agitation or retardation
(f) Fatigue or loss of energy
(g) Feelings of worthlessness
(h) Diminished ability to think or concentrate; indecisiveness
(i) Recurrent thoughts of death, suicidal ideation, suicide attempt, or specific plan for suicide
B. Symptoms do not meet criteria for a mixed episode (ie, meets criteria for both manic and depressive episode).
C. Symptoms cause clinically significant distress or impairment of functioning.
D. Symptoms are not due to the direct physiologic effects of a substance or a general medical condition.
E. Symptoms are not better accounted for by bereavement, ie, the symptoms persist for longer than 2 months or are characterized by marked functional impairment, morbid preoccupation with worthlessness, suicidal ideation, psychotic symptoms, or psychomotor retardation.

Yes, it could be caused by a vitamin deficiency or depression. Boredom and fatigue can cause depression too. It's best to talk to your doctor about your symptoms. If you are in your teens, remember it's normal to want to sleep up to 14 hours a day as a teen.

In other words does boredom and fatigue cause depression or vice verse? And then just to keep it interesting, could it all be caused by nutritional deficits?
Actually, the question itself is so depressing that it wears me out too much to attempt an answer. Sorry.

I am on welbutrin and think a lot more people need mood medication! Talk to your doctor about your interaction with others. How do you treat people in public like waitresses and grocery clerks? Are you mean to them? That's a form of depression. Some people feel so insignificant that they mistreat people they assume make minimum wage. Good luck! Seek help...it works!

I went to my doc with the exact same list of complaints as yours. The doc prescribed Effexor. I was always against medication for that kind of thing...until I began taking it. It works well...
