Yes, it is usually in the form of separation anxiety or behavior problems.

The dog has a poor confidence level
The dog may be too strongly bonded to the owner
The dog may have had an unstable upbringing or multiple homes
The dog may not be used to staying alone
The owner may be leaving the dog for very long periods of time

Yes, I am sure they do, but I have never seen it with my dog. She gets out and runs around like crazy, but I would not say that is an anxiety attack. Hey, wait a minute, she does and big time. When we pull up in front of PetSmart, oh, my gosh, she goes nuts, she gets so excited. She jumps back and forth in the car, and starts talk barking, like I can't wait to go in there and sniff stuff, and shop for toys, It is like Disneyland. Then when we come home from her nightly outing in the car, she never wants it to end. We pull up and she starts whining. She is 55 lbs, and part Lab/Pit Bull or G. Shepard, so she is pretty big. She can pull you arm off too, just pulling to get into Pet Smart on her harness. She is a hand full, when she goes into her panic attack during these times.

Yes. My daughter's rat terrier gets them whenever he has to go anywhere in the car or hears thunder and lightening during a storm. The poor little guy pants so hard and shakes so much that you can see his short little hairs practically flying off of him. We've asked the vet about this and have been told that the best way to treat this is to ignore the panic, give no reassurance, and just go on as usual. By recognizing the panic behavior and fussing over the animal, you're telling it that this is one way to get attention and so is okay. Don't do it.

when you say "panic attacks" are you trying to anthropomorphise this dog because they may, but not in the same way as me or you would get a panic attack . As dog are different. i now dogs can panic and run away of attack e.g. showing thee teeth, there hair stand on end to make there self bigger to fight or make there self small so trying to stop a fight .

yes they do my dog gets depressed sometimes, he will just lay around and look up and around the room i feel so sorry for him but i figure it's because he's not been with another dog . thats the only reason i can think of because i play with him all the time and he is hardley ever along. if he is ever along it's only for a short time,
