Why would people want to join a religion that was created by a science fiction writer? A group that believes that psychiatry and psychology are evil sciences. A group that believe in extraterrestrial dictators brainwashing mankind, Galactic Confederacies, past lives on other planets and who believe that breasfeeding babies is harmful. Why?

I don't get it. Could someone explain to me what the attraction of Scientology is?

First I want to clarify that the story of Xeno is just a fable and no Scientologist believe it to be true. In fact most Scientologist I have meet haven't even heard the story. Scientology is much like Buddhism but instead of meditation the use auditing with the same goal and better results. Scientology is the most attacked religion there is. Why? Because it works. And the slave masters don't want theirs slaves to go free and think by them selves. So Scientology must be discredited and destroyed. The IRS, Times magazine and others have done theirs best to destroy Scientology. But it is still here. Why? Because it works.
So the awnser of your question is simple: Because it works!

It's probably because Scientology promises mental cleansing and love and peace and warm and fuzzy feelings and then, after they've realed you in and spoon fed you comfort and belonging and the illusion of healing yourself from mental anguish, they make you give them every penny to your name, cut yourself off from reality and brainwash you with utter garbage just to make you more fanatical and intertwined with their cult.

Scientology is undeniably a cult.

Every cult can be defined as a group having all of the following five characteristics:

1. It uses psychological coercion to recruit, indoctrinate and retain its members
2. It forms an elitist totalitarian society.
3. Its founder leader is self-appointed, dogmatic, messianic, not accountable and has charisma.
4. It believes 'the end justifies the means' in order to solicit funds & recruit people.
5. Its wealth does not benefit its members or society.

Are Cults Harmful?

To remain within the strict mental and social confines of a cult for even a short time can have the following disastrous effects:

Loss of choice and free will. Diminished intellectual ability, vocabulary and sense of humor. Reduced use of irony, abstractions and metaphors. Reduced capacity to form flexible and intimate relationships. Poor judgment. Physical deterioration. Malnutrition. Hallucinations, panic, dissociation, guilt, identity diffusion and paranoia. Neurotic, psychotic or suicidal tendencies.

People are strange. Once you dismiss objective reality, then anything goes. Our kids have been dumbed down systematically. Now we have dumbed down adults without the skills to reason and critically analyze a dogma. There are those who believe we create our own reality. Well, they used to believe that until they realized that it was totally illogical for millions to create their own version of reality in conflict with each other. So then they said that I create all the reality. Then they had an argument which still rages as to which I is the real creator. I am the real creator; no, I am the real creator, no you are my creation; no, you are the creation. Shirley McClain is in this argument. When you debate with these people you have to start with kindergarten steps and teach them basic critical thinking. I once debated a goofy woman with every day proofs that supported objective reality. The truth was too much for her. She got up and left the table. So it is not just a lack of critical thinking skills, it is a willful choice. Many are seeking for that "something more" in life and not finding it in objective reality and therefore create their own fairy tale reality. The problem with that is that objective reality has that way of intruding into their lives unbidden, smashing that fairytale reality to smithereens.

Not a clue - "Operation Clambake" made it perfectly clear to me that Scientology is bizarre - not breast feeding a baby will probably keep its intelligence slightly lower and will result in a weakened immune system. Baby's should be breast fed for the first two years if at all possible.

The Bible says the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Those who are joining that religion if we can call it like that are doing so because there is no fear of God in them and so they cannot discern the ways of the enemy. They are all blind for the gods of this world has blinded them. We cannot blaim them much.

It's totally flashy and in your face. Most women want to join becuase they pray to get banged by Tom Cruise. Most men want to join because they pray to sodomize Tom Cruise. There should only be one man in your life and that is our holy father Jesus Christ of the Latterday Saints.
