at his work he has thrown stuff and swore loudly to get people to stop touching his stuff. What the heck should I make of that?

Have you asked him about it? If not ask. He may not realize how he is acting (and there may be something else going on in that head of his). If he doesn't seem to be open to considering changing his destructive behavior I would most certainly take it as a sign that it is time for you to take a step back while he gets his emotions sorted out. The behavior you described is NOT normal and may be an indication that he has a hidden dangerous side (one that you don't one day want to be on the end of) and still has some serious growing up to do. Growing up that you don't need to be part of. Good luck.

That is a way too big BUT
You are seeing a huge red flag and trying to justify avoiding it.

The guy has a nasty temper. A short fuse.
I bet if you stay with him he will verbally abuse you and eventually hit you. Do you want that? He is on his best behavior with you until he knows you are his. Then you will be just like the people he works with.
Please don't be so needy that you give your heart to a guy who obviously has conflict issues. If he lets off steam with theh people at work, he will eventually snap in public and in private with you.. What part of that seems attractive to you?
Up your standards in guys hon. You don't deserve to be walking on egg shells. Not all guys are like this.
