A suicide rate of 25 out of 100,000 is still only 0.025%. This is hardly 'usually'. And if we wish to determine correctness of religion based on suicide rates, then we should all be muslim, yes?

Secondly, you lied. You said 'atheists have the highest suicide rates'. The study does NOT say this. The study didn't determine the religion of the people killing themselves, it looked at the rates of suicide in countries based on the COUNTRY'S prevailing religion.

So if 100% of the people who commited suicide were Christians living in Atheistic countries, they'd have been counted in the atheist group. This introduces a huge skew, because two very large countries, Russia and China, are effectively atheistic, and include a large portion of their population in desperate conditions -- poverty, sickness, etc.

In short, this study is effectively contaminated by so many flaws that it's useless.

Interesting attempt at slamming atheists though. I've not seen this approach before.

just because the country hold an atheist doctrine, doesn't mean that more atheists commit suicide than theists. and sadly, just because some countries report nearly no suicides, doesn't make it true either. They forget about the terrorist bombers, who are not considered suicides in their countries. The facts are wrong. even in advanced countries, many suicides are considered accidents. Numbers are skewed.

That sounds more like hate than a question that comes from curiosity.
Atheists probably kill themselves more often because all that free thought overloads their minds. They don't have a "don't think" region in their brains which religion provides. Just an idea.

Because you god fearing folk believe if you kill yourself, your soul will be dammed forever, we on the other hand don't care what happens after, we just want this existance to end

Not this one. I'm the poster child for happiness my friend. Here, have a song.

WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD

Written by: George Weiss & Bob Thiele
Performed by: Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shakin' hands, sayin', "How do you do?"
They're really saying, "I love you"

I hear babies cryin', I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world

Oh yeah :)

Why do Republicans usually end up sorry? The answer to this question is the same as the answer to your question.
