Not really, I personally think it's manlier to just throw on stuff that's lying around. Although I have to say (and I know a lot of girls who agree) that I think tank tops on guys are a huge turnoff, no matter how buff they are. It's just something about it that makes it seem like he's trying too hard (ironically enough even if it's his undershirt).

Well, yeah it kinda does matter. For instance, if you're going on a job interview you don't want to be wearing bball shorts or pjs or sweats. Looks are the first impression you make.

I am a firm believer in being yourself and being comfortable. Screw being the best dressed just to impress people. It is good that you have such a high self esteem. Not many teens do. I say just be yourself and dress the way you want and people should give you alot more respect because you don't follow all of the trends and are true to yourself.

Who cares what other people think as long as you're comfortable?
It may "seem" like it matters because you are in high school, but in the grand scheme of life, High School is about the most worthless point in anyone's life. You'll look back at it and laugh in a few years.
So be yourself. Do what you need to do...

some people care...some dont.
what is your goal exactly - to attract people as friends or more? are you trying to attract men or women?
first, it matters more to some people than others... some people care, others are too concerned about themselves to notice.
males tend to favor ingroups - so if you dress like a certain group of males, you have a better chance to fit in with them. gay men tend to ignore dressing patterns if you are very good looking. otherwise, clothes matter to the gays.
women respond to clothing like status symbols, but much less strongly than a yacht or private plane. so, again it doesn't really matter here. I have no idea what part of the country you are in but in most areas, women date men from the same "style family" as themselves (i.e. preppy, jock, goth, non-conformist)
most people, who don't already know you, will make assumptions about you based on the way you dress. if you're a senior in HS - you don't have anyone to impress so it shouldn't matter.

Yeah. You're a tad self-obsessed and you need to get over yourself.
No one freaking gives a crap.
