My Parents have an Otheograph (correct spelling?) of Mary Queen of Scots in an 18th Century Frame however we all have no idea on what an otheograph is or the process involved? Is it common? We've heard of linograph etc?

It should be spelt as Orthography. Orthography in Greek means -ortho-straight and graphikos-capable of drawing, painting or writing. Hence orthography means the spelling of words according to accepted usasge. The accepted usage for botanical names is as per the International code of Nomenclature and similar is the case for other names for accepted usage. There is no such method of drawing as otheography.

Where did you find or hear the term Otheograph? I owned a picture framing and art gallery, for 20 years, and I have never heard the term. I can't find it in art terminology anywhere. Can you find out if you are spelling it correctly? If you take it to an auction house, such as Sotheby's or Branham and Butterfield, or to a reputable antique appraiser, they might be able to tell you what the art media and/or process is.
