The credo (Latin for "I believe") is the Nicene Creed (or, less often, another creed, such as the Apostles' Creed) used in a religious ceremony. It especially refers to the use of the creed in the Roman Catholic Mass, either as text, Gregorian chant, or other musical settings of the mass.
A creed is a statement or confession of belief — usually religious belief — or faith. The word derives from the Latin credo for I believe.

The Free Dictionary defines "credo" as "a creed" and "creed" as "A formal statement of religious belief; a confession of faith."
Both Oxford and Cambridge dictionaries agree.
