It's called Idolatry. Many of them don't worship God, they worship their scriptures; this is evident in that they not only defend their scriptures fiercely, but that they obviously put more faith i their scriptures then in God.
Look at the way they act, how many do you see truly emulating Christ?

Because christians are interested in truth. That's why they are so narrow. Most people, in this post-modern culture aren't. Many don't even believe there is something called truth. Logic itself will make truth narrow. The 3rd law of logic is the law of non-contradiction which says A cannot equal non-A. Another way of stating that is to say that if 2 statements or philosophies or religions or anything else diametrically contradict each other, they cannot both be true. That alone makes things narrow. Let's just say that I am standing next to a blue chevy. I say this is a blue chevy. The next guy that comes along may say it's a red camel. Another may say it's a yellow submarine. Another may say it's Hillary Clinton in a blue dress. There's a million things you could say that this thing is. But if they all contradict each other there's only 2 possibilities logically. 1)only one is true and all the rest are false 2) they're all false(that's got to be considered a logical possibility). Either way you've narrowed your choices. But one thing that is not true is that they are all true or even some of them....not if they all contradict each other. If you have a few that don't contradict each other in any way then those few are not a few but they are the exactly the same thing. 2+2=4. Boy, that is a narrow minded statement. Let me give you a more open minded statement. 2+2=4 but 2+2 also =5 and it = 7 and it = 11 and it = 15 and it = 27. That is a much more open minded statement. BUT WHICH IS TRUE. 2+2=4!!!!!! That is the only true statement in the bunch. If you don't believe me then the next time you throw a party and put 2 oranges on this table and 2 oranges on that table and then say to your 27 guests, "why don't all 27 of you go over there and get yourself an orange off those two tables", wait and see if they all get an orange. If they all get an orange then I'll say "you know, maybe you're right.......maybe 2+2 is also =27. But that's not what's going to happen. Trust me on that. What's going to happen is that 4 people are going to get oranges and 23 are going to get nothing because 2+2=4(and only 4). That's very narrow but it's true. Truth is very narrow because of logic. All these so-called open minded people are very illogical and not at all interested in truth because all truth is very narrow.

I have issues with religion being infused into political activism, but I believe Christians should vote their conscience no matter what--for example, if a person believes that abortion is wrong, they should vote likewise--otherwise, they are hypocrites, and I can't see how even non-Christians would want to encourage hypocrisy. But God is neither a Republican nor a Democrat, which both major parties tend to forget. I will concede that too many Christians also forget what Jesus said about people knowing we are His disciples by our love. Does that mean we have to accept every lifestyle as "normal"? No, but it means that our love for that person should overshadow our disagreement, hopefully to the point of our love (or rather, God's love in us) changing our own and others' lives.
As for concern about the accuracy of the Bible, how is this a bad thing? Don't people strive for accuracy and clarity in everything else in life?
Not sure what a "non-religious" Christian would be, but if you mean someone whose faith doesn't affect their life, those people would be hypocrites. And I don't think you want more hypocrites. I'd rather be in a society full of people whose views I disagreed with but whose lives were models of consistency than to be around people I agreed with philosophically but who were hypocrites. I'd think anyone else would feel the same way.

Close minded can be a good thing if you have an accurate view of things. Would you be open minded to someone you didn't know and yet they wanted to borrow your car for a trip. Most church going people do question things they do not understand. Most of the issues you raised are plainly taught in the Bible except for views on science and politics. Do you stop at red lights or are you open minded to only stop for them if it is a Monday? I know there is a DMV handbook that was studied to get your license but come on you can think for yourself-don't stop on red if you don't want to. See we are all steadfast on somethings.

I think it's a matter of security. Weak people want to believe something, and religion offers a simplified view of the world. And that's enough to most people.
If they start doubting small things, it will eventually lead to loss of faith, since faith doesn't stand the test of logic. In other words, strongly religious people are in denial, they refuse to accept logic and science as an argument.

I am a christian and I am very open-minded. I think of the bible as guidelines. If you stray from the guidelines God won't hate you. I think some Christians take the bible as a 100% book of rules. They just need to realize that God told man what to write, but MAN still wrote it and humans are not perfect. I think that Christians need to stop living the traditions of man and embrace people from all walks of life.

They are too busy judging others and trying to convert people to question their own religion and all the faults within their religion.

I am a christian and I am not close minded. No person will dictate to me how to believe. It is only through my own searching will I find the answers for me. Maybe not for you. But that is what I believe.

The very nature of religion discourages questions. Whenever I asked questions in church or sunday school, I was just told to not question but have faith. They must have faith in everything the bible presents, without question, or religion falls apart.

Because Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me."
This means that as CHRISTians we have chosen to believe everything that Christ taught, no more and no less. This is why there is NO WIGGLE ROOM on all the hot topics you have listed.
Now there are people who cloak themselves in Christianity, but believe things Christ did not teach. This means that they are merely "Wolves in Sheep's clothing".
The only way you can know if someone is a TRUE CHRISTian and not just someone professing Christianity to give credence to their own self-serving ideals is to read the Holy Bible and know for yourself what Christ taught.
