Would consider yourself Calvinist or Arminist and why? If you say Calvanist can you pick and choose which doctrines of the five to believe in? If Arminist where does God's sovereignty fit into your doctrine?

These are not denominations they are doctrines. I'm asking out of curiosity only.

Calvanist, It's the only way the Bible can be true

Your source of doctrine should be your Bible-always. You cannot pick or choose from it what you will believe and follow and what you will not. You follow its teachings by following the examples set by Jesus and those hinge on the decalogue aka the ten commandments which are summed up simply by loving God with your whole heart, soul, mind and being; and loving your neighbor as yourself basicly. That is what we are asked to do but an outstanding Christian often loves his neighbor more than himself or herself. There is nothing to say how far to go, that is up to us, but like the story of the widow's mite of money that she gave up in an offering-we are all asked to give and show love, part of that giving is forgiving also and that combination is the minimum required. There will be those who love more and give more of themselves to God and their fellow man. So that is the answer and summation of the doctrines issue you speak of. As far as being a Flukeist or Tootist or whatever, all of the Christian denominations belong to God and are supposed to follow HIS teachings. Their denomination is just a label telling you which mens additional teachings they are following. I have a denomination and I have nothing against that branch of the church but I cringe when people ask me what religion I am because I am really not a religion. I am a spirit inside of a vehicle (body) that God gave me to get around here in and do the things He teaches. If I do them, I am christian which means Christ-like. As I try to follow Him I am a Christian and every denomination is part of the Christian church. Now if you are looking for the definition of a Calvinist or an Arminist do write back and I will define those for you. Meantime, God bless and I hope I answered your question.

I think that any person who declares loyalty and dogmatic espousal of either of those doctrines is missing the mark because that's the type of thing that brings division into the body of Christ insead of edification and unity. It is far better to tell someone the Scriptures and the theology behind those doctrines and to tell them to pray for the Holy Spirit to lead them to the truth than to jump on a doctrinal bandwagon regarding non-essentials of the Christian faith. It's like people who take a side in the OSAS debate or the pre-tribulation - mid-tribulation - post-tribulation rapture debates. I like what my pastor has to say about his position regarding the rapture. He says that he is "pan-millenial", meaning that it will all pan out in the end and we don't need to waste time engaging in fruitless debates when we could be telling people the plain truth of the gospel message.

Just Christian, period. Neither a Calvinist, Insist, Whatissist, et cetera. Sectarian definitions of Christianity is what renders us all un-Christian with one another (ever witnessed a Seventh-Day Adventist argue with another because one insists that the Sabbath is sunrise to sunrise and the other insists that it is sunset to sunset?).

Rule 1: To avoid bloodshed when drinking at a party, never discuss Religion, Politics, and Debts, in that order.

Christian and christian only.
Doctrines and religion will send you to hell.
My Bible does not give any doctrine, except the 10 Commandments to follow. Also we to believe with faith the size of a mustard seed and you will receive. So why try to do what the Bible does not even mention?

Paul covered this himself saying that he is not God, and that whether it be he or Appollos it is all of the Lord.
unless YOU -that is personally are born again, you will not see the kingdom of heaven.
so......that exlcudes calvinism for obvious reasons seeing there is a hint alone of choice/option here.
and arminism..is only a made up term.

IT IS THOSE THAT DO THE WILL OF THE FATHER AND THE SON WILL STAND BEFORE THE RIGHTEOUS AND HOLY FATHER AS OUR MEDIATOR ONE DAY , AND DECLARE WER ARE 4GIVEN THROUGH HIS BLOOD AND OBEDIENCE TO HIS WORD.
