I had prior pain in my mouth and a day or two later, there was a bump on the top of where my wisdom teeth are supposed to come in. Is it normal, should i get it checked out?

Mucous cysts are common on the inner surface of the lips and appear as a semitransparent fluid-filled vesicle. They are painless but bothersome because people are so aware of irregularities in the mouth. The cysts are thought to be caused by sucking action drawing the mucous membranes between the teeth. Mucous cysts are harmless. If left untreated, however, they can organize and form a permanent bump on the inner surface of the lip.
Symptoms:

* a transparent fluid filled bleb on the inside of the lip
* also seen on the tongue, palate, inside the cheeks (buccal mucosa) and the floor of the mouth (ranulas)
* lesion is painless

Are your wisdom teeth coming in? Is there activity in that region? Then it's probably just the teeth breaking through.

I started to get all four wisdom teeth, at the same time. The pain was excruciating, but Advil was my best friend!! I'd give it a week or so, to see if the teeth break through. Just because dentistry is so damned expensive!

But if they don't, they may need assistance which means cutting the gum, professionally. So make an appointment if the pain doesn't subside, or if you just can't take it anymore. If it interferes with your everyday life (and you're NOT being a wuss), then by all means see a doc.

Good luck. They have taken about 4 years to emerge fully in my case. I guess it's whether you think extraction is worth it or not!

Yes I think it is normal. Most bumps in the mouth will go away within 2-14 days or so. If it keeps getting bigger go see a doctor or dentist.

There are many things it could be but I have had many things like this over years. Cold sores , etc... Every time it went away no deal.

But if you have been doing things with a partner it could be a form of STD but that's rare and there should be more then one bump more like 3-20.

Sounds like an abscess. If it is painful, it is probably a good idea to get it checked out as it is never good to have an active infection in your body.

The little thing that hangs down in the back of your throat is not your tonsils, it is actually your uvula. The bump that you are feeling may indicate infection. To be sure you should visit your dentist.
