It's really difficult to say. No matter how much one tries, they will always be different in person in comparison to the way they are online (or not in person). In every forum, or every blog, or every online game, etc., we form a different variation of ourselves, none of them being a perfect rendition of ourselves in person.

That sweet talking instant messager/emailer could easily go over their sentences over and over to make sure everything is perfect. In fact, they could be completely different in person. Let's assume you understand what I'm talking about now... if I were to say these things to you in person, I could be a mumbling nervous wreck speaking gibberish. You might pick out words and mix them together to form your own meaning when I intend to mean something else.

Please understand that I'm not saying that love can't grow in a long distance relationship. However, majority of communication is physical. You can say more with a silent 2 minute walk down the street than an hour of trading e-mails and instant messages. Even talking on the phone is a great way to gauge a person's personality (e.g.: you can always tell if someone is smiling as they talk over the phone).

Now this is probably what you want to hear: When you two meet up together, there will be the intent to make things work. In that sense, you have both set up a goal to work towards and that's great way to build a relationship. Distance is not a factor as long as you understand your expectations, set the right goals, and keep yourselves motivated to meet those goals. By keeping your communication to just writing, there is still a lot of potential for love to grow.

Good luck on your first meeting!

It is possible depending upon the person If it was meant to be it will happen Remember the old saying Absence makes the heart grow fonder The most important thing is to remember is to keep an open and honest line of communication and hopefully things will work out for you and your special lady Good luck and stay positive that you two will work out

it can work.. take it slowly. I am marrying my sweetheart that I found online. It has been 3-1/2 years since we met. We are also expecting our 1st child. Good luck! IT will take lots of TRUST and compromise when trying to further this relationship. Just remember take it SLOWLY!! Distance is hard, but not impossible. We lived 350 miles (6 hours) apart. WE now live togethger. Troubles will happen but work thru them.

Almost anything is possible but unless that distance is closed the chances of a sucessful relationship is pretty bad. Best of luck.

It definitely can. It's hard but if you both are willing to make sacrifices, adjustments and TRUST each other while you are apart, it will work.

I'm happy for you, that you finally get to spend time with your special someone...I still have a couple months to go until I see mine and I'm excited.

Good luck!
