Usually when you use a acne medication the acne does get worse at first. Many of the prescribed and over the counter medications cause skin irritation, inflammation, peeling, and sun sensitivity. When I was 16 I had the worst acne. My face was always bleeding some where due to me picking at it , I also had little craters due to the scaring. I tried proactive but all it did was make my skin irritated. I have really sensitive skin. So I tried this stuff by Arbonne. I can not tell you how good it worked. It did take about a week and a half for me to notice a difference (i had awful acne) but I loved it. Now I don't use the acne kit I use the intelligence kit (for all skin types) and my skin looks great. If you send me a email at givemedeals2005@hotmail.com the lady I bought the stuff from give a 35% discount to first time buyers and a money back guarantee.

I've never had smooth skin, never. Well, maybe as a child, but once puberty hit, all bets were off. I struggled with acne as a teenager, but never saw a doctor for it. However, during my pregnancy with my first child, it got severe. I was diagnosed with rosacea, which isn't really acne, and traditional acne treatments will only make it worse. So, while I can't give you any help as far as treatments, if you've been using faithfully something over the counter to treat acne for several (2-4) weeks, and you're not seeing ANY improvement, it's time to go see a dermatologist. There are many prescriptions that can help, but there are different forms of acne, and only a dermatologist can tell you what you have. And, once I started using a regimen my dermatologist put me on, my skin did improve dramatically. However, you should know that when you start a new regimen for skin care, either OTC or prescription, your skin will go through a period for a week or 2 where it actually gets worse. Don't panic, keep using the products, and after another week or so, it should start improving. But if it doesn't, go back to the doctor. Good luck, I hope you can find something that works for you!

I have two things about acne. Oldest daughter had breakouts around mouth area and I read in magazine that toothpaste that is made to get rid of plaque, I can't remember the kind that first came out with it,but antitartar or something like that was the toothpaste was the cause of acne for a lot of people. When she quit using it her face cleared up.
Daughter #2..had larger ones here and there. The expensive pads dried the rest of her face up. We went to witch hazel and she is an old 28 yr. old that uses it every day and has beautiful skin. So, sometimes the simple things work and you don't have to spend a fortune to get results. Good luck!

If you have the right treatment, acne should be healing, and reappearing less often, at the 4th week of treatment situation should be in good control.
Treatment may go on for longer, and if/when stopped, acne may start popping up again.
Acne will cause cosmetic concerns and considerable emotional tension, and some time low self esteam.
Mine subsided in early 20s, and left no scars.

I used to have acne real bad and nothing would work even went to the doctor and it still didnt do the trick, this is simple and you may already tried it but I used plain noxema after buying all the most expensive things out there it worked for me and I would also take a hot washclothe as hot as you can stand it and place it on my face this opens your pores, and then place a cold one on your face behind it that closes your pores, in between the use of the noxzema hope this works for you

Not with me, usually like with me (on BenzaClin, a Clindamycin based creme) my skin became dry and flaky in some spots and my eyebrows and hair line turned blond. It does take awhile for your skin to become adjusted to the medicine, I'd say about a month, but if you truly feel it's not working (and you know your body) see the doctor and try something new.

I used to use Oxy10-THAT STUFF WAS AWESOME!!! It got rid of my acme in twenty four hours, nothing ever compared to the power of Oxy! I'm not sure they make it any more. It's a shame if they don't because it really worked. Why on earth discontinue anything that worked is way beyond my comprehension.
