I already had 2 and this would be my third child. I had 2 c-sections already and i think having three kids is enough.

As far as I know there should be no side effects just don't lift anything heavy for a couple weeks or ask your doctor. Usually they don't burn your felopian tubes but extract them so not to cause tumors or cysts to develop. I had the procedure done after my third child was born and fourth pregnancy, I miscarried my first child. It is easier to get it done after birthing then waiting to have the procedure done at a later date, explained by doctors and nurses to me at the time of my son's birth. I have had no complications from this procedure.

Having tubal litigation is abdominal surgery, you will be anesthetized... There are risks to surgery and anesthetic... Risks of abdominal surgery are infection, hemorrhaging, and death... Risks from anesthetic are poor reaction to anesthetic, rash, hives, on through death.... Poor outcomes are however very rare under 2%.... You will be sore/tender for a few days to a couple weeks.. Tubal litigation does have a small percentage failure rate as well under 1% (meaning a small number of women become pregnant ever after the surgery) ....

If you are sure you don't want anymore children (I mean REALLY sure) tubal litigation is a very good option for permanent birth control (does nothing to prevent diseases)... If you are however not absolutely positive use other forms of birth control, as tubal litigation is not always reversible should you change your mind at a later date...

One side effect I know of is incomplete sterilization (where the tubes are not completely sealed). This can lead to more pregnancies down the track, and greatly increases the risk of ectopic pregnancy, which is invariably fatal to the fetus and can be fatal to you!

This happened to my mum who had her tubes 'tied' after my twin sisters were born. 16 years later she had massive internal bleeding with vomiting, fainting and severe pain when her fallopian tube ruptured due to an ectopic pregnancy. She had to have her ovary and fallopian tube on that side removed.

Although this is rare, you should familiarize yourself with the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy as early detection and removal could save you life.
