I almost dropped the "L" word on the gf for the first time last night and in hindsight wish I would have. It was a very good/positive emotional moment. Question: should I wait for another similar moment or does it matter? Can I drop it out of the blue and still have a positive effect? I have told women I love them before (and thought I meant it), but have never felt anything close to what I feel for her now and want to get this right.

No, it's not just cute. It could be the most important moment I have ever come across in my life. Sorry to have offended the Depressed, but I have wanted to be in this situation for about 15 or 20 years now so suck!

It doesn't have to be in that "perfect" moment, because any time you say that and mean it, that moment becomes perfect. Don't just be sitting on the couch watching Family Guy and turn to her and say it, but you don't have to wait for that deep emotional conversation either. DO NOT tell her over the phone or in email or anything like that. When you feel it, tell her. When you look at her and that amazing feeling washes over you and you can't contain yourself, tell her. good luck, all you need is love.

Don't just throw it out in casual conversation if you want it to have the biggest effect. Girls never forget the first time their man says "I Love You", wait for the same mood.

I believe you can tell her whenever you want to, and often. Love is a verb, not a noun; so show her by your actions and she'll love you all the more.
